The bullies in the White House

Ed Lasky, AT:

Many people have wondered why Barack Obama and his team seem to have a soft spot for tyrants. Was it just the anti-Americanism and radicalism imbibed by Barack Obama from his youth and stoked by the ministrations of his minister, Jeremiah Wright and by his pals and comrades such as Bill Ayers and Rashid Khalidi? Or was it just the fad found in academia where Barack Obama has spent so many years?

But maybe it is something else entirely. Maybe Barack Obama just likes their style – and we know this is a man who appreciates style because he seems to be emulating their tactics and strategy. He scolds unfriendly media (i.e, media that tells the truth, such as Fox News), attacks businessmen and uses them as straw men, rails against financiers, places lawyers at the Department of Justice who will do his bidding; fires whistleblowers, such as Inspector General Gerald Walpin who want to do the people’s business and not the President’s business; and taunts people that he can sic the IRS on them (Richard Nixon has been reincarnated).

Barack Obama is getting the hang of “governing” by learning from the worst of the worst.

The Philosophic Roots of Eco-Theology

By Daniel H. Fernald, AT:

Man-made global warming (AGW) is and always has been a complete and utter fraud, but the battle is far from over. There remains, however, the question of origins. Or, as David Byrne might put it, “Where?! How…did…I…get…here?!”

The philosophic roots of Eco-Theology are both deep and strong — so much so, in fact, that only an axe aimed directly and confidently at the roots will keep this eidetic weed from re-asserting itself like intellectual kudzu.

The main root is relativism (specifically, “epistemological relativism”), from which extend, first, the modernist elevation of autonomous reason to supreme status, and second, the postmodern abandonment of reason altogether.

Democracy by Slaughter

[Daniel Foster, NRO:

The sense around here for the last week or so has been that “only the House vote matters” in deciding the fate of Obamacare. But what if the Democrats can pass the bill with no House vote at all?

Astoundingly, House Democrats appear to be preparing to do just that:

The Sin of Public Education

By Lee Duigon:

If you have school-age children, what’s the single best thing you can do for them, for your family, and for your country?

That’s an easy one: pull them out of public school! And that goes double if you call yourself a Christian.

What’s that? You can’t afford it? Bunk! You can’t afford not to do it!

Running the Clock on Rifqa

Pam Geller:

Rifqa’s entire legal strategy hinged on obtaining for her Special Immigration Juvenile Status (SIJS). This was the objective, the end run. If they could keep Rifqa out of her dangerous home environment and secure immigration status, then it didn’t matter how they did it, as long as the goal was achieved.

Understood.

But. What was not understood was the nature of the threat and the enemy Rifqa faced. They were playing by a set of rules that were inapplicable to the challenge they faced. By pretending that sharia was not the 800 lb. elephant in the room, they were out-strategized.

Cuba’s Healthcare Horror

by Humberto Fontova, FrontPage:

“My nation is hardly perfect in human rights. A very large number of our citizens are incarcerated in prison, and there is little doubt that the death penalty is imposed most harshly on those who are poor, black, or mentally ill. For more than a quarter century, we have struggled unsuccessfully to guarantee the basic right of universal health care for our people. …but Cuba has superb systems of health care and universal education.”

Thus did Jimmy Carter, in a May 2002 speech at the University of Havana that was broadcast throughout Cuba, prostrate himself before a regime that has jailed and tortured political prisoners at a higher rate than Stalin and murdered (in absolute numbers) more political prisoners in its first three years in power (out of a population of 6.4 million) than Hitler murdered in its first six years (out of a population of 70 million.) Not to mention that President Carter’s host, Fidel Castro, insulted his nation as “a vulture preying on humanity” and came within a hair of nuking it.

Carter is not the only one to trumpet the supposed glories of Cuban health care. Let’s consider the following quotes:

“Health care (in Cuba) was once for the privileged few. Today it is available to every Cuban and it is free….Health and education are the revolution’s great success stories.” — Peter Jennings, World News Tonight, April 3, 1989

“Castro has brought great health care to his country” — ABC’s Barbara Walters, Oct. 11, 2002

“Even today, Cuba has one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world.” — Katie Couric reporting on NBC’s Today, February 13, 1992

“Frankly, to be a poor child in Cuba may in many instances be better than being a poor child in Miami, and I’m not going to condemn their lifestyle so gratuitously.”– Newsweek’s Eleanor Clift on The McLaughlin Group, April 8, 2000

Contrary to the above “news analysts” and Human Rights spokespersons, Cubans have a drastically different story to tell. And even more unluckily for Castro and his MSM auxiliaries, the internet has pulled a stunning and (to them) infuriating end run around his traditional MSM defenses. Word is getting out about the disastrous state of Cuban health care.

America’s True Heroes

by Jamie Glazov, FrontPage:

Frontpage Interview’s guest today is Dave Gaubatz, the first U.S. civilian (1811) Federal Agent deployed to Iraq in 2003. He is the owner of DG Counter-terrorism Publishing. He is currently conducting a 50 State Counter-terrorism Research Tour (CTRT). He is the co-author (with Paul Sperry) of the new book, Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that’s Conspiring to Islamize America. He can be contacted at davegaubatz@gmail.com and his site is MuslimMafiaInternational.com.

FP: Dave Gaubatz, welcome back to Frontpage.

Before we begin I would like to describe the picture above that represents this interview. Undercover non-Muslims Stefanie and Charety are siting at the CAIR table. They are speaking to Khalid Iqbal, who was assigned as the CAIR/VA Director at the time. When CAIR/VA closed due to the Morris Days fraud, Iqbal went to the ADAMS Center.

David, I would like to talk to you today about American heroes like Stefanie and Charety who have done dangerous undercover work inside Islamist organizations, risking their lives to protect this country.

Let’s begin this conversation by talking a bit about your son Chris, who was recently featured in a Frontpage article by Robert Spencer.

Chris was the lead researcher for your project in which you had several people go undercover inside CAIR National for over 6 months. Tell us a bit about what Chris and others like him have been doing for this nation.

How not to gain China’s respect.

BY Ross Terrill, WS:

The excellent obituaries for Alexander Haig showed his many facets—four-star general, crisis manager at the White House, national security deputy to Henry Kissinger, commander of NATO, charming though prickly secretary of state—but left out his revealing collision with Beijing’s “bite your friend” syndrome in 1981-82. This syndrome, which predated Haig, lives on to threaten President Obama.

Beijing often tries to instill in any “friend of China” a feeling of obligation to do even more for the People’s Republic. Show yourself susceptible to the Middle Kingdom, and smiles lead to demands. Call it bite-your-friend. Someone known to be wary of China, by contrast, does better, as Beijing must snap to reality for the encounter.

Obama Aims to Impose a Solution on Israel

By Ted Belman, AT:

President Obama intends to impose a solution on Israel.

During the lead up to his election victory, he surrounded himself with a host of vehemently anti-Israel advisors including Lee Hamilton, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Samantha Power, Susan Rice and Gen Jones, many of whom advocated imposing a solution on Israel..

He also made common cause with Jewish leftists represented by J Street and Israel Policy Forum who were urging him to increase the pressure on Israel and if that didn’t work, to impose a solution on Israel.

[…]

The article writer is likely correct. As an aside Belman is also editor of Israpundit as noted at the foot of the article. I used to post at Israpundit until shortly after Belman took over. He tends to be somewhat derisive of Born Again evangelical Christians and even dedicates a page at his site to questioning who Jesus is and leans heavily on The Jesus Seminar, historical Jesus nonsense.  Nonetheless, we are in agreement concerning the existential threats facing Israel.

Obama and the L-Word

Matt Welch:

Here’s how predictable the president’s slippery relationship with the truth has become: Hours before the State of the Union address, Washington Examiner reporter Timothy P. Carney posted a “pre-emptive fact check” that, among other things, prebutted any presidential claim to have “stopped the revolving door between government and corporate lobbying.” As it happened, that night Barack Obama made an even bolder (read: less truthful) claim: that “we’ve excluded lobbyists from policymaking jobs.”

In fact, more than 40 former lobbyists work in the administration, including such policy makers as Deputy Defense Secretary William J. Lynn (who was lobbying for Raytheon as recently as 2008), Office of the First Lady Director of Policy and Projects Jocelyn Frye (National Partnership for Women and Families), White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs Cecilia Muñoz (National Council of La Raza), and Treasury Secretary Chief of Staff Mark Patterson (Goldman Sachs).

Favouring the hate-mongers

Calgary Herald:

That annual disgraceful orgy of hate known as Israel Apartheid Week is underway on campuses across Canada, and this year it runs for two weeks. One can only wonder with utter disgust when it will be extended long enough to be known as Israel Apartheid Month.

York University, a hotbed of IAW activity in Canada, is doubly disgraced this year, for university authorities cancelled events planned by the Imagine With Us coalition — pro-Israel groups headed by B’nai Brith Canada and a Christian organization called MyCanada.

Turning a recession into a depression

Lorne Gunter, National Post:

Have you ever witnessed an old office tower or hospital being levelled by implosion? Demolition experts detonate charges placed strategically throughout the building so it falls in on itself. The procedure can be done so precisely that nothing around the razed building is damaged.

Now imagine the same procedure carried out by do-ityourselfers who have only seen it done on TV. Debris would fly everywhere destroying lives and property for blocks. Passersby would be sucked into the concussive vortex. Nearby homes and shops could be vapourized.

Current efforts by American Congressmen to force the White House to withdraw the United States from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) are like an attempt to carry out an implosive demolition of the American economy by D-I-Yers.

I don’t care if Americans blow up their own economy. The trouble is, no one is expert enough — least of all Congressmen who are play-acting as economists — to know where to place the charges so that the collapsing American economy does not topple the rest of the world’s finances with it.

Why Democrats Don’t Care about $9.7 Trillion in Debt

Dennis Prager:

I suspect that most Americans, if asked whether these numbers trouble the Democratic leadership and President Obama, would answer in the affirmative.

They would be wrong.

They would be wrong not because the Democratic party and the president are economic illiterates or bad individuals, but because the Democratic party and the president are leftists, and most Americans, including most Democrats, do not understand the Left. They may understand liberalism, but President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and most Democratic representatives and senators are not liberals; they are leftists. Few Americans understand the difference.

They do not realize, for example, that there is no major difference between the American Democratic party and the leftist social democratic parties of Western Europe. They do not know that, from Karl Marx to Barack Obama, the Left (as opposed to liberals) has never created wealth because it has never been interested in creating wealth; it is interested in redistributing wealth.
