THE BLACK KETTLE

Proverbs 21:30

Heresy

By Michael Coren

My earlier book, Why Catholics Are Right, sold well enough to amaze its author as much as its publisher, and prompted the latter to ask for a sequel. The secular world is finally realizing that there are many millions of informed Christians, who, though marginalized, buy books.

And they resent heresy, which has always been the most common and toxic of the attacks on Christianity: Jesus didn’t exist; Christians oppose progress and are scared of science; they’re obsessed with abortion; they’re racist and supported slavery; Hitler was a Christian, and so on.

Thus the premise of my new book, Heresy: Ten lies they spread about Christianity is this: Christians are not treated fairly by media.

Let’s embrace our friends

By CAROLINE B. GLICK:

The evidence that the two-state paradigm has failed is overwhelming. The Palestinians’ decision to reject statehood at Camp David in 2000 and launch a terror war against Israel made clear that they had not abandoned their refusal from 1947 to accept partition of the Land of Israel with the Jews.

So, too, the Palestinians’ election of Hamas in the 2006 elections, and their missile war against Israel from Gaza in the aftermath of Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza in 2005, all made clear that they are not interested in a Palestinian state. Rather, their chief desire is Israel’s annihilation.

Consequentially, there is no chance whatsoever that the two state paradigm can work.

Indeed, the fact that there is no Palestinian leader willing to recognize Israel’s right to exist makes clear that if a Palestinian state is established in Judea and Samaria – in addition to the de facto Palestinian state in Gaza – that state will be in state of war with Israel. All territory under its control will be used to attack the rump Jewish state.

Given the abject failure of the two-state paradigm, it is abundantly clear that for all the complications that may be associated with the application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, it is a better option for Israel than Israeli surrender of the areas.

Question for Chris Matthews: How Many Lies Are You Willing to Tell to Get Obama Reelected?

By Noel Sheppard:

I have a serious question for MSNBC’s Chris Matthews: How many lies are you willing to tell on national television to get Barack Obama reelected?

On Friday’s Hardball, the host gave viewers a plethora of falsehoods and half-truths to giving us an idea of just how far he’s prepared to go this election cycle to make sure the objection of his affection remains in the White House (video follows with transcript and commentary):

[…]

Mathews is so far gone that he’s become a parody of himself.

WashPost Highlights (Sexist?) Sebelius Protesters by Gender: ‘Nearly All of Them Men’

By Tim Graham:

A small group of conservative protesters greeted HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius – a woman whose own bishop excommunicated her – to speak at the Catholic Georgetown University. The group made the front page of Saturday’s Washington Post – and the caption highlighted “A small group of abortion foes, nearly all of them men” protested.

This is not the way the Post covered Occupy DC: “A group of free enterprise foes, nearly all of them white…” Post reporter Jenna Johnson set the scene as Sebelius was heckled:

The MSM is the de facto Obama re-election committee so we’ll be seeing a bunch more of this coverage in the months to come.

CIA Vindicates ‘Path to 9/11’ Charge Clinton Missed bin Laden

by Mark Tapson:

Few memes about President Barack Obama are as comical or aggravating as his “gutsy decision” to take out Osama bin Laden.

For one thing, military and intelligence insiders are strongly suggesting that he didn’t even make that call. And after all, what President wouldn’t green-light that no-brainer? Jimmy Carter, maybe. But now it has been confirmed that President Bill Clinton passed on at least one clear opportunity to give a CIA team that go-ahead – letting the terrorist leader live to mastermind the 9/11 attacks.

The incident very closely resembled a dramatized version in the controversial 2006 miniseries “The Path to 9/11,” a scene in which Clinton and his people previously attacked as an outrageous fabrication.

What the Pill is doing to our water supply

by Rebecca Oas, Ph.D.:

In 1960, the combined oral contraceptive pill was first approved for use in the United States. Seven years later, “the Pill” was featured on the cover of Time Magazine, illustrating its enormous societal impact[1]. Roughly two generations later, statistics from the United Nations show that, within more developed nations worldwide, just under 16% of “partnered” women use contraceptive pills, a number which does not include usage among single women[2].

However, even as the popularity of oral contraceptives remains high, the drugs themselves have been evolving in response to further discoveries about the human reproductive system, as well as efforts to reduce the Pill’s negative side effects. As with any major technological or medical development, particularly one embraced very quickly by a large sector of the population, it can take years, and even decades, for the full range of effects to become evident. And as demonstrated by several recent studies, many questions remain unanswered regarding the long-term and environmental effects of the hormones used in oral contraceptives, as well as other medical treatments.

The president’s ‘other gospel’

by Cal Thomas:

The president says he is a “practicing Christian.” It is difficult to be one while simultaneously holding a low view of the Bible, which his position on several social issues might suggest.

The same Book that informs him about the Person he told Pastor Rick Warren in 2008 is his “Savior,” also speaks to the beginning of human life (he has done nothing to limit abortions), fornication between adults of the opposite sex (no word yet on his position on that subject), marriage, and adultery, which the Seventh Commandment and New Testament passages condemn.

I recently wrote that it is becoming increasingly difficult for people who believe the Bible is God’s Word to impose their beliefs on those who disagree with them. But it is something altogether different for those who disagree to claim the Bible doesn’t say what it says, in effect calling God a liar. President Obama apparently hopes there are sufficient numbers of biblical illiterates—and he could be right about this—that either won’t notice his sleight of hand, or don’t care.

Thousands of years of human history have sustained marriage between one man and one woman. Even human biology testifies to a natural order.

Emerging US-Iran interim nuclear deal endangers Israel

DEBKAfile:

Yukiya Amano, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, is entrusted with a decisive mission in Tehran Sunday, May 20: collecting Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s broad endorsement of the interim eight-point deal he and US President Barack Obama have drafted through secret dialogue. debkafile has obtained exclusive access to the eight points – with the caveat that they may not be final. The details are still to be hammered out and proved practicable. But the way the deal stands now, it will be unacceptable to Israel because if affords Iran enough leeway to carry on developing a nuclear bomb program with no real hindrance.

Obama Was Born in Hawaii Before He Was Born in Kenya

Daren Jonescu:

Thomas Lifson has already made the definitive statement (here) as to the absurdity of the claim that a literary agent’s brochure listed Barack Obama’s birthplace as Kenya — for sixteen years — due to a “fact checking error” by bio editor Miriam Goderich. And it has been widely noted by those with far more experience in the publishing industry than I that such an author’s biography would never be written without the involvement of the author or his official representative at some stage of the process.

Yet there is another peculiarity about this mysterious Kenyan birth “mistake” that seems worthy of notice. The brochure in question first appeared in 1991. At this time, Obama was merely a prospective author. He had not yet written a book, and, as is well known, he had never published any academic work or articles of note.

His only real claim to significance, at that time, was his being the president of the Harvard Law Review. And this accomplishment, in fact, forms the lead sentence of the infamous bio:

The P.A. Hate Machine

BY: Adam Kredo:

The Obama administration justified releasing more than $192 million in financial aid to the Palestinian Authority with false information, according to an Israeli expert who monitors the Palestinian media’s constant promotion of violent, hateful rhetoric.

The administration quietly reinstated the P.A.’s aid last month after it was frozen by Congress in the wake of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s attempt to declare statehood before the United Nations. The administration also secretly attempted to restore funding to a U.N. cultural agency that unilaterally—and illegally—recognized the “State of Palestine.”

Obama’s Chicago Thug Way Invades Wisconsin

By Lloyd Marcus:

As chairman of The Campaign To Defeat Barack Obama, I just returned back home to Florida from Wisconsin, which is ground zero in the battle to stop Obama’s ruination of America. Like locusts, Obama minions have swarmed the state of Wisconsin, devouring all who dare oppose their recall of Gov. Scott Walker for his efforts to restore his state to fiscal sanity. Obama minions organized mob protesters to storm the state capitol. Death threats have been made against Gov. Walker, the lieutenant governor and their families.

Still, Gov. Walker has hung tough and is leading in the polls. This has forced Team Obama to spend more millions and send in the big guns: DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is headed to Wisconsin.

Who Is Barack Obama? The Question that Won’t Go Away

by Roger Kimball:

So now Chris Matthews isn’t the only one experiencing a little thrill when he thinks about Barack (omit middle name) Obama. The recent revelation that from the early 1990s until the day before yesterday—or, to be more accurate, until Obama made his decision to run for president—a biographical pamphlet circulated by his literary agents described him as having been “born in Kenya” has been setting the world of Twitter atwitter.

What should we think about that? An agency spokesman who claims to have been responsible for the “born in Kenya” wheeze has publicly said that it was a mistake, a typographical error, a slip of the pen that just went “unchecked” for, um, sixteen-seventeen years. I can understand that. She meant to write “Hawaii” and wrote “Kenya” instead. Could happen to anyone. They look and sound enough alike, don’t they, that no one noticed. You meant to write “there” and you wrote “their” instead. You meant to write “cup” and you wrote “floccinaucinihilipilification” instead. No one—no one at the literary agency, not the author himself—could be expected to notice. You understand that, right?

Well, maybe that is an unprofitable line of inquiry. However it happened, the take-away here is not that Obama was really born in Kenya. As my friend Roger Simon points out in “The Mystery of the Kenyan Birth,” the noteworthy thing is that it is one more puff in the cloud of unknowing that surrounds the president.
