Many on the right and the left would concede that America’s immigration system is broken, but few acknowledge that it is also hopelessly corrupt. There should be little doubt about the immorality at the heart of the immigration and naturalization process following an inspector general report released on Tuesday that alleges at least one ranking Department of Homeland Security official showed “an appearance of favoritism” and granted “special access” to those seeking green cards and visas for immigrants associated with Democrat-linked wealthy investors.

Obama is at his best when ignoring his own comments. His “red lines” are drawn in disappearing ink as far as he’s concerned. Twenty-two times Obama said he didn’t have the authority to unilaterally legalize immigrants. He did it anyway. You can keep your doctor and your insurance, he said — before he stopped saying it. So the notion this White House can’t pretend Netanyahu didn’t say what he said is simply hilarious, particularly given that what Netanyahu has said isn’t what the White House is pretending to hear. Of course, no informed person believes the White House is angry about how Netanyahu won reelection. It’s angry that he was reelected at all (unsurprising, given that Obama’s political allies worked to oust him). Obama detests Netanyahu and is letting that animosity poison a strategic alliance. He is making that choice while pretending he isn’t. That’s what he does.
Secret intelligence files held by Yemeni security forces and containing details of American intelligence operations in the country have been looted by Iran-backed militia leaders, exposing names of informants and plans for U.S.-backed counter-terrorism operations, U.S. officials say.
Another Obama foreign policy success …
This is big news. Saudi Arabia and a Sunni coalition (UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait) has now begun bombing Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen:

A Christian street preacher has been convicted of a Public Order offense for using the wrong Bible verse in a public conversation with a man who identifies as homosexual.
But the preacher was acquitted of two other Public Order charges.
In a highly unusual judgment, Michael Overd, who regularly preaches on the streets of Taunton, was told by the Judge that he should not have referred to Leviticus 20 to make his point but clearly indicated that he could have used chapter 18 of the book.
District Judge Shamim Ahmed Qureshi found that Mr. Overd could have pointed to Leviticus 18:22 which describes homosexual practice as an ‘abomination’ but that reference to Leviticus 20:13 was inappropriate because the chapter refers to the death penalty.
Mr. Overd points out that in his use of Leviticus 20 he never referred to the death penalty. “I am being punished for words that never passed my lips,” he commented.

You know campus radicalism—the kind that openly oppresses in the name of ending oppression—is going too far when even The Nation magazine takes notice. Nation writer Michelle Goldberg reports about the case of Northwestern University feminist film professor Laura Kipnes, who wrote an essay last month in the Chronicle of Higher Education entitled “Sexual Paranoia Strikes Academe.” It was a long and rambling piece that covered a lot of territory, but contained here and there several nuggets of good sense:

Home Radio TheBlaze TV Books Store American Dream Labs 1791 Video Does this progressive GOP leader have ties to the Muslim Brotherhood? by Wilson Wednesday, Mar 11, 2015 at 3:46 PM EDT For a long time, Glenn has been warning people about Grover Norquist, a well-known progressive in the Republican party. Frank Gaffney, founder of the Center for Security Policy, joined Glenn on radio today and explained why he believes Norquist has been part of an “influence operation” on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood that has obscured the danger the Islamist group poses the the United States. Why do America’s leaders have such a problem naming radical Islam as a threat to the Western way of life? This interview sheds new light on the story.

It seems like it was just yesterday that we were discussing Obama’s little snit about our ally Israel giving information to our own Congress about his secret talks with our enemy Iran. The guy just wants to be left alone to deal with our enemies, you know what I mean?
And the last thing he needs is the pesky leader of the world’s largest alliance of free nations, of which we are supposed to be the most important member, expecting any of his time. Sorry, NATO. You don’t make the King’s priority list:
An investigation by USAToday and more than 10 of its community newspapers and television stations across the country found that between 2011 and 2014 alone, there were 362 reported physical and cyberattacks by electric utilities that resulted in partial power outages or disturbances.
The question was never whether Israel would give land for peace, but whether it could get peace for land.

The head of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) told members of Congress Tuesday that part of the agency’s involvement in Operation Choke Point was a “mistake.”
“Clearly there was misunderstanding with regards to the list, which was a mistake on our part,” Martin Gruenberg, chairman of the FDIC, said of the agency’s decision to create a supervisory list of 30 “high risk” industries that, in addition to highlighting a number of illegal or outright offensive enterprises like “racist materials,” featured legal merchants such as gun dealers and payday lenders.
But if it was a “mistake,” Republicans asked, why has no one been fired or held accountable?

Indian Catholics are calling for the closure of all Catholic schools on March 25 as a sign of protest against the recent surge in anti-Christian violence in the country.
“We demand the closure of schools of the Archdiocese of Mumbai March 25, to protest the attacks on Christian institutions,” said the statement from a group of Christian organizations that met on Sunday.
The Christian platform, which includes such groups as “Catholic Secular Forum,” “Maharashtra Christian Youth Forum,” “Association of Concerned Catholics,” and others, stated, “The Christian communities have been under attack since the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power.”
We have demanded that “the Catholic schools remain closed March 25 to send a strong message to the politicians,” the statement said.
The group is reacting in particular to the recent rape of a 71-year-old nun in West Bengal, as well as attacks on a Catholic church in Panvel and the assault on a group of Bible students in Jabalpur.
On March 21, three vandals on motorcycles threw stones at the statue of the patron saint of St. George Catholic church, shattering the glass case around it. Mumbai CCTV cameras caught the vandals on film, but they were wearing masks.
Also over the weekend, a group of marauders broke into the courtyard of the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul in Jabalpur, where participants in a Bible convention were sleeping.
According to the local bishop of Jabalpur, Gerald Almeida, who organized the convention, a large group of brigands broke into the building at around one o’clock in the morning, “attacking the faithful and stealing their belongings.” After the beatings, the bishop said, “the attackers destroyed the door of the cathedral and some vehicles. The police arrived several hours later, only at 4:00 am, when it was all over,” he said.
As ISIS Destroys Ancient Pre-Islamic Artifacts, Academic Apologist Blames the West for its Desecration of History
By Winfield Myers
Elliott Colla, associate professor of Arabic studies at Georgetown University, has joined the herd of Middle East studies professors who insist that Islam has nothing to do with widespread destruction of antiquities by the Islamic State (ISIS). Rather than appealing to Islamic texts or traditions to defend Islam, however, Colla deploys a two-fold strategy of feigning ignorance about ISIS and contextualizing their horrific acts within the intellectual and material legacy of Western colonial archaeology. As a result, in whitewashing Islamism Colla degrades the worth of ancient civilizations and their artifacts while training his moral outrage on Western colonialism, particularly the archaeological digs it sponsored and the museums these enterprises filled.
Regarding his argument from ignorance, writing at his blog on March 5, Colla claims:
Despite the network news telling us the Obama economy is doing great and the job market is just getting better and better, the real story on that score isn’t good.
The top Republican lawmaker on the House Science Committee issued a subpoena Wednesday to compel the Environmental Protection Agency to produce text messages and phone records for administrator Gina McCarthy.
This article describing Obama’s perfidy and treachery in Nigeria is devastating. But I submit to you that Obama’s objective is much more malevolent than merely promoting David Axelrod’s Nigerian Muslim client. This is a systematic and very deliberate campaign to deliver Nigeria into the hands of the jihadists just as Obama has been working to do in Syria, Iran, Egypt, Israel, Iran, Afghanistan and beyond.

Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said on Fox News’ “Special Report” that President Barack Obama liked to “dance around” his criticism of Israel, but instead instructed his “henchmen” to wage a campaign against Israel.
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency said that Iran has failed to provide the information or access needed to allay the agency’s concerns about the weapons potential of the country’s nuclear program.
Krauthammer’s Take: White House Should Not be Upset Israel Shared Info about Iran Deal with Congress

Kurt Volker, who served as the U.S. permanent representative to NATO under both President George W. Bush and Obama, said the president broke a long tradition. “The Bush administration held a firm line that if the NATO secretary general came to town, he would be seen by the president … so as not to diminish his stature or authority,” he told me.
America’s commitment to defend its NATO allies is its biggest treaty obligation, said Volker, adding that European security is at its most perilous moment since the Cold War. Russia has moved troops and weapons into eastern Ukraine, annexed Crimea, placed nuclear-capable missiles in striking distance of NATO allies, flown strategic-bomber mock runs in the North Atlantic, practiced attack approaches on the UK and Sweden, and this week threatened to aim nuclear missiles at Denmark’s warships.
“It is hard for me to believe that the president of the United States has not found the time to meet with the current secretary general of NATO given the magnitude of what this implies, and the responsibilities of his office,” Volker said.
Bernadette Meehan, a spokeswoman for the National Security Council, declined to say why Obama didn’t respond to Stoltenberg’s request. “We don’t have any meetings to announce at this time,” she told me in a statement. Sources told me that Stoltenberg was able to arrange a last-minute meeting with Defense Secretary Ashton Carter.
According to White House press releases, Obama didn’t exactly have a packed schedule. On Tuesday, he held important meetings and a press conference with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at the White House (Ghani will meet with Stoltenberg while they are both in town). But the only event on Obama’s public schedule for Wednesday is a short speech to kick off a meeting related to the Affordable Care Act. On Thursday, he will head to Alabama to give a speech about the economy.
Israel today denied it, saying they don’t spy on the US:
At the East Room of the White House today, President Obama signaled that he wasn’t prepared to forget Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments characterized as rejecting the idea of a two-state solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Hirsi Ali replied, “Because too many people are dying in the name of Islam, too many women live under oppression, too many Jews are being demonized, too many gays are being killed in the name of Islam, too many Christians are being killed in the name of Islam. I think it really has … the answer is to have the reformation now.”
Israel’s enemies have been sitting on its borders and waiting for an opportunity to attack. One of the reasons they have been reluctant until now to wage an all-out war to destroy Israel was their fear that the U.S. would come to Israel’s rescue. But now, Hizbullah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Islamic State and other terror groups are hopeful that Obama has finally decided to abandon Israel.
AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department arrested a woman last night after a “Molotov cocktail” was thrown at pro-life activists praying outside of an Austin Planned Parenthood abortion facility. “The White House is driven by three main motives,” the senior official said. “The first is revenge [over the Congress speech]. The second is frustration: It’s no secret that they were involved in an attempt to bring down the Netanyahu government – something that we have clear knowledge of – and failed. The third [motive] is the administration’s attempt to divert attention from the negotiations with Iran to the Palestinian issue.”

It isn’t just education, of course. In much of Canada, private health insurance is effectively banned. The existence of private insurance is a very strong indicator that there are some people who are not entirely pleased with Canada’s single-payer system. (Monopolies rarely have happy customers.) So they opt out, at least in part, exercising the right of exit that is the most fundamental of civil rights. This is an affront to progressive values. Solution? Ban private health insurance.

President Obama made no secret of his displeasure that Benjamin Netanyahu was reelected to be Israel’s Prime Minister. Only David Ben Gurion, Israel’s first Prime Minister and one of the nation’s founders, served longer.
Obama lives in some parallel universe apart from the lessons of history and the realities of what is actually occurring. On May 18, 2009, not long after Netanyahu had been in office and was visiting the White House, Obama was demanding that he endorse Palestinian statehood and freeze the settlements on the West Bank.
Considering that the Palestinians had refused statehood from the day the United Nations endorsed Israel’s independence that has been a fool’s mission no matter who was President or Prime Minister.
Assisted suicide is primarily pushed by those in the upper crust. Disability rights activists call it an issue of “privilege.” That is why advocacy on behalf of assisted suicide is so well funded (much of the money from foundations associated with George Soros).
