Oslo “peace process” officially dead: U.S. Senators Urge Closure of D.C. PLO Office, Termination of Aid

It’s been dead since the second intifada after Yaser Arafat, the godfather of modern terror, refused the offer of a “Palestinian” state, but now it is officially dead. The big lie is over.

Unilaterally seeking to declare a state in the West Bank violates the Palestinians’ Oslo Accord commitments to refrain from “steps that will change the status of the West Bank… pending the outcome of the permanent status negotiations.” High-ranking Palestinian officials have boasted that the resolution will mark the formal end of the decades-old Palestinian peace process with Israel. (source: TIP)

Now that Oslo is officially dead, will Israel, the one side that was actually adhering to the conditions and playing by the rules, finally quit the farce?

Israel and the Carthaginian Peace

A people whose singleminded fanaticism has become pathological has ceased to reason in its own best interests. By using its population as willing accomplices by placing military installations and rocket batteries under and adjacent to mosques, schools, and apartment complexes, such a moral calculus is revelatory of the inner workings of the Palestinian mind. Primarily, it devalues the life of its own people in service to its cause: a cause that would not hesitate in destroying the same enemy domestic targets if given half the chance — just as it justifies the bombing of buses or the decapitation of infants in their cribs. Similarly, it betrays its own relative ethical barbarism by holding the IDF hostage to its own moral restraints, who are loath to inflict injury and death in their attempts to quell the rockets and mortar teams that hide behind human shields. We cannot lose sight of the reality that the outrage that attends collateral damage inflicted by the IDF and by Hamas is incommensurately perceived in both the Arab and Western world. Such is the handicap that Israel is hobbled with in waging a war of self-preservation.

Exclusive: Obama White House Threatens to veto 2013 NDAA if Gitmo is not closed

Marinka Peschmann:

There’s a showdown happening in Washington and it could get very ugly soon. Will President Barack Obama’s first-term promise to close down Guantánamo Bay and bring Gitmo detainees to the U.S become a reality or will the Republicans with the support of some Democrats block the Obama administration again?

Late last night the Senate passed a measure introduced by Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) preventing terrorist detainees from being transferred from the U.S. prison in Guantánamo to U.S. soil.

However, earlier yesterday the White House started circulating a Statement of Administration Policy (SAP) warning that President Obama would veto the renewal of the pending 2013 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) if Guantánamo transfer and funding restrictions were not removed. The SAP also warned the Senate not to add any new detention provisions.

The National Defense Authorization Act is legislation which provides budget authority to the Department of Defense and to the Department of Energy’s national security programs.

In a nation already divided, the divide is about to become even sharper. Who will win this battle that effects national security and potentially the safety of Americans at home?

Conservatives vs. the GOP

By John Fund:

Conservative groups are sending written warnings to both congressional Republicans and the Republican National Committee. If Republicans sign on to a deal that raises taxes, they risk an open break with large portions of their base. “This is a time of testing for you,” more than 70 conservative leaders write in an open letter sent Friday morning to every GOP member of Congress. They warn that if a budget deal that raises taxes is passed with GOP fingerprints on it, conservatives will “see that the current leadership is not an acceptable alternative to the left. Conservatives would then likely repeat what they did in the 1970s, when they systematically and successfully undertook a multi-year effort to replace Republican congressional leadership.”

The letter goes on to warn that there are two ways President Obama and liberal Democrats could turn their economic agenda into law. First, just enough Republicans could vote with the Democrats to provide a narrow majority for tax hikes. Or the Republican leadership in both houses could negotiate a “deal” and pressure Republican congressmen and senators to approve it. “Either of these two courses would be a disaster for conservative principles because they would result in permanent advances for the ‘fundamental changes’ the left wants to impose on our country,” the conservative leaders warn.

Muslims Pressing for Blasphemy Laws in Europe

by Soeren Kern:

The Dutch parliament has approved a motion to revoke a law that makes it a crime to insult God.

Free speech activists say the move represents a significant victory at a time when Muslim groups are stepping up pressure on European governments to make it a crime to criticize of Islam or the prophet Mohammed.

Article 147 of the Dutch Penal Code was drafted in the 1930s and had not been used for half a century; leading legislators said there was no longer a need for it. The decision to abolish the law follows national elections in September 2012, in which two liberal parties (the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and the Labour Party (PvdA) emerged victorious.

The issue was brought to the attention of the Dutch parliament in June 2011, when Geert Wilders, a MP who crusades for free-speech, was acquitted after facing trial on charges of inciting hatred and discrimination against Muslims. The judge ruled that Wilders had the right to criticize Islam, even though his opinions may have insulted many Muslims.

BOOM! Israel responds to UN/Palestinian vote by authorizing 3,000 settler homes in West Bank and East Jerusalem

by The Right Scoop:

Not only is Israel authorizing 3,000 new homes in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, but they may start building in the next year even more homes in what is known as a “geographically sensitive area close to Jerusalem”. Palestinians aren’t going to like that one bit.

Predictably the Obama administration frowns at the new settlements, calling them ‘counterproductive’. GOOD!

Why indeed?

Why did Jordanian Palestinians join the protest calling for the overthrow King Abdullah II of Jordan?
Why did Iran attack a US drone in the international waters of the Persian Gulf?
Why is Mahmoud Abbas going ahead with the UN vote on observer status over pointed US objections?
Why did the Emir of Qatar visit Gaza and give Hamas $400 million?
Why did Ansar al Shariah attack the US Consulate/CIA Annex on 9-11?
Why did Mohammad Morsi take on dictatorial powers in Egypt?
Why is Iran using Sudan as its staging base for the export of arms to Gaza?

Have You Heard About the Quietly-Released Obama Memo on ‘Insider Threat Policy’?

by Liz Klimas:

Obama Issues Insider Threat Policy and Minimum Standards Memo the Day Before Thanksgiving: Intent, Timing QuestionedIn what some might consider an increasingly growing trend of releasing information just before holidays or the late on Friday afternoon, the White House has yet again quietly published a memo from President Barack Obama, laying out guidelines for executive agencies to establish “effective insider threat programs.”

The presidential memorandum issued on Nov. 21 — the day before Thanksgiving — is called “National Insider Threat Policy and Minimum Standards for Executive Branch Insider Threat Programs.” Here’s what the relatively short memo said (Note: Emphasis added):

History of Israel/Palestinian conflict from CBS News

by The Right Scoop:

I’ve been going through this for a while and aside from a little bias, it’s a fairly good and thorough. If nothing else it serves as a general guideline of that chronology of events starting from 1890 to present day.

You will see the word ‘occupation’ used in several places and you’ll also notice that it never says Israel won the wars fought with Arabs. It doesn’t say they lost either….it just doesn’t say. But given that Israel has won all the wars with the Arabs, I think they should have noted it.

But otherwise it’s worth reviewing:

On the Harvesting of Votes

Forrest Gump:

David Horowitz brings us a very disturbing report on the extent to which the traditional harvesting of votes by parties has degenerated into massive, uncontrollable ballot manipulation by Democrats.

Traditional “vote harvesters” have as their mission the gathering of “… unthinking collectives of potential voters — nursing home residents, college students, skid-row dwellers, recent immigrants — and get them to vote[.]”

Mr. Horowitz is a red-diaper baby and a former “Marxist intellectual”-turned-militant conservative who here recounts a conversation he had with his “… brother-in-law, Henry, who has lived most of his life in a home for the mentally disabled and although now in his 40s, has the intelligence level of a 6-year-old.”

Why Christian Persecution Is Islam’s Achilles’ Heel

By Raymond Ibrahim:

Which of the following three headlines is most difficult for the media—including the usual array of liberal pundits, apologists, academics, and politicians—to whitewash or rationalize away? Which most exposes Islam’s inherent intolerance?

A) “Allahu Akbar” screaming Muslims fire rockets into Israel

B) “Allahu Akbar” screaming Muslims riot and commit acts of violence in Europe

C) “Allahu Akbar” screaming Muslims torch a Christian church in a Muslim country

The answer is C—Christian persecution.

Why?

Because in both scenarios A and B, Muslims will always be portrayed and seen as the “underdogs”—and hence always exonerated for their behavior. No matter how violent or ugly, no matter how many Islamic slogans are shrieked—thus placing their behavior in a purely Islamic context—Muslim violence against the West and Israel will always be dismissed as a product of the weak and outnumbered status of Muslims—their status as underdogs, which the West tends to romanticize. And so they will always get a free pass, without further ado.

Anti-Jewish Apartheid at the U.N.

By Arnold Ahlert:

As reported exclusively by Breitbart, the Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust was denied access to the UN’s General Assembly hall during the vote slated to grant Palestine non-member observer state status. On Wednesday, the UN Division for Palestinian Rights sent a letter to the UN pass office, insisting that the UN-accredited Jewish group be denied access to the morning meeting. The passes had already been printed and issued, but UN security officials insisted upon their return, capitulating to the Palestinian branch’s demand. Twenty-three Jewish young adults, who were part of an educational program associated with the Taglit-Birthright Israel alumni community, were affected.

Krauthammer: ‘Give Obama the Full Clinton’

By Michael Kling:

Budget negotiations aimed at avoiding the fiscal cliff are supposed to be about taking a balanced approach.

However, President Barack Obama’s initial offer is anything but that, writes Washington Post opinion writer Charles Krauthammer.

“Obama’s audacious new gambit is not a serious proposal to solve our fiscal problems,” Krauthammer states. “It’s a raw partisan maneuver meant to neuter the Republicans by getting them to cave on their signature issue as the hold-the-line party on taxes.”

Editor’s Note: Economist Unapologetically Calls Out Bernanke, Obama for Mishandling Economy. See What They Did

Obama has two objectives, he asserts. The first is to create “internecine warfare” over taxes among Republicans. The second is to “bury Grover Norquist,” the conservative activist known for pressing Republicans to pledge not to raise taxes.

Obama is succeeding in his first goal, Krauthammer says.

John Bolton says Obama failed to take Palestinian UN vote seriously, also Israel making big mistakes too

by The Right Scoop:

John Bolton says that the Obama administration absolutely could have stopped the UN vote to recognize Palestinian Statehood from happening because they failed to take it seriously and they deserve most of the blame for it happening. But he also blames Israel for taking the threat of not collecting taxes for the Palestinian Authority off the table and he says they are making a BIG mistake by downplaying this.

And as many have said, Bolton said now the Palestinians will now try to exceed to the International Criminal Court Treaty to engage in ‘lawfare’ against Israel.

Bolton explains how the US could have stopped it below, just like he says we stopped it 20 years ago:

Reality TV Saved the Second Amendment

By Ron Resnick:

The scary reality is that the United States is just one Obama Supreme Court appointment away from waking up in the country described in my nightmare. A switch of only one vote would unhinge the ability of law-abiding Americans to own firearms, and cancel a right upon which our individual liberty and representative democracy ultimately, and always will, depend. How four justices of the U.S. Supreme Court could have concluded that the Second Amendment does not guarantee the right of individuals to own firearms is baffling and horrifying to me, but that is what they believe.

To my surprise the most powerful guardians of the Second Amendment have come not from law schools but from cable television network programming meetings. I believe that reality television shows based on firearms have exposed millions of Americans to the safe use of firearms for sports, for target shooting and simply for fun. By making the widespread ownership and use of firearms acceptable and normal to millions of people who have never touched a gun, these shows have unwittingly saved the Second Amendment.

The Greek Crisis: Yes, It’s That Bad

by Diran Majarian

Greece is now a virtual EU colony, waiting from bailout to bailout, each preceded by months of negotiations, more harsh austerity measures, riots, and an increasingly fractured political system.

The latest installment has been delayed by a growing rift between the IMF and their EU partners in Greece’s guardian, called the Troika. The IMF has looked at the ever-deepening EU recession and Greece’s inability to pay back debts given its own declining economy. It now wants to scale down future loans.

The IMF is hardly being radical. Its incredibly modest goal is that by the year 2020 Greece will only hold public sector loans amounting to 120 percent of its gross domestic product. That’s double the international norm. Yet even this basic goal probably won’t hold. In Europe, politics systematically trumps sound economic policy, and the ideology of a single currency zone precludes any rational discussion.

With Rice, Benghazi Is Only the Start of the Problem

by Andrew C. McCarthy:

As we awaken to the spectacle of yesterday’s Palestinian coup in the General Assembly — symptomatic of a colossal failure of American leadership — it is worth underscoring the important op-ed authored by former Attorney General Michael Mukasey and Touro Institute’s Anne Bayefsky in Thursday’s Wall Street Journal.

The piece recounts Susan Rice’s unsavory record as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Ms. Rice, of course, has recently gained notoriety — infamy, really — for her appalling performance as megaphone for the Obama administration’s effort to mislead the country into believing that a protest over an obscure video about Islam’s prophet Mohammed somehow led to the September 11 Benghazi massacre of four Americans, including Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya.

In reality — as the administration well knew when Rice was dispatched to misinform Americans five days after the slaughter — there was no protest. The atrocity was a coordinated terrorist attack, a siege of seven-plus hours during which the commander-in-chief failed to deploy readily available military assets to protect Americans.

It was politically expedient to lie because Obama’s Libya policy created the conditions for a jihadist assault on our personnel. It was also expedient to lie because the attack, by al-Qaeda-connected terrorists, contradicted the Obama campaign theme that the president’s order to kill Osama bin Laden had decimated al-Qaeda.

The ambitious Amb. Rice agreed to do the campaign’s dirty work.

Kathryn Blaze Carlson:

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird will meet as soon as early next week with the Canadian diplomats the federal government is recalling from Israel, the West Bank and the UN.

In an interview with the National Post, Mr. Baird said he will meet with those representatives in Ottawa for a frank discussion on Canada’s next move after Thursday’s UN vote that implicitly recognized a Palestinian state.

Despite widespread speculation, Mr. Baird said Canada is not considering breaking off relations with the Mahmoud Abbas’ Palestinian Authority and deferred questions about Canadian aid to International Cooperation Minister Julian Fantino.
