Obama hints at handgun restrictions too

Paul Bedard:

Suggesting a ban not just on semi-automatic weapons like the AR-15 but maybe even handguns, the most popular rifle in America, the president said, “What I’m trying to do is to get a broader conversation about how do we reduce the violence generally. Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced. But part of it is also looking at other sources of the violence. Because frankly, in my hometown of Chicago, there’s an awful lot of violence and they’re not using AK-47s. They’re using cheap handguns.”

Texas man was ‘willing to kill as many bystanders as necessary’ in $1.5 million plot involving Iranian military to assassinate Saudi ambassador on American soil

DAILY MAIL:

A Texas man claiming to follow orders from Iranian military officials pleaded guilty in court Wednesday to plotting to assassinate Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States.

Manssor Arbabsiar, 58, admitted to plotting and agreeing to hire what he thought was a Mexican drug dealer last year for $1.5 million to carry out the attack with explosives at a Washington restaurant.

He was described by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara as ‘the extended murderous hand of his co-conspirators, officials of the Iranian military based in Iran, who plotted to kill the Saudi Ambassador in the United States and were willing to kill as many bystanders as necessary to do so.’

Does ‘Innocence of Muslims’ have something in common with ‘Holy’ Olive trees?

WALID SHOEBAT:

Walid has reported extensively on the Innocence of Muslims video that has been in the news since September 11th. The media narrative is that the film was produced by a Coptic Christian. He has repeatedly challenged this assertion and has produced plenty of evidence that indicates Nakoula Basseley Nakoula (Mark Bacile Yousef) is not a Christian at all.

In fact, Nakoula has a long history of working with Eiad Salameh, a Muslim fundamentalist who hates Copts. How do we know? Because Eiad is Walid’s first cousin and Walid knows his background quite well. Walid has also produced evidence that Salameh, who was a partner in crime with Nakoula for many years, was offered to the Feds in 2011 by the Canadian Peel Police but the Feds declined to pick him up.

According to court documents, Nakoula had been given a lighter sentence in order to help the Feds catch Salameh, so the Feds’ reticence to do so when the Canadians offered up Salameh is quite perplexing.

Candy Crowley Plays Biggest Loser with Obama

By Selwyn Duke:

You might think that with all the recent focus on media bias in debate moderation, Candy Crowley would have minded her p’s and q’s in last night’s presidential debate. But clearly, she doesn’t even know the ABC’s of her job.

Her most obvious transgression was chiming in and contradicting Mitt Romney’s assertion that Barack Obama did not label the Benghazi attack an act of terror when he spoke in the Rose Garden on Sept. 12. Crowley’s unwarranted meddling was significant. The apparent lies surrounding the Libya tragedy are a huge scandal for Obama, and, with the mainstream media’s failure to aggressively cover the story, the debate was a golden opportunity to get the truth out.

Enter Crowley’s Passion. She snuck into the ring, without Obama even tagging her, and hit Romney from behind with a chair while the ref, Crowley’s Brain, was looking the other way. And, as was established later, she was wrong. It was, as Thomas Sowell wrote recently, a display of what Obama himself is guilty of: confident ignorance.

Also striking, however, is that most of the questions asked clearly played into the liberal agenda. This isn’t surprising since they were chosen by Crowley herself. And we should ask: why was one liberal in a nation of 308 million people empowered to unilaterally choose the questions for a presidential debate? There couldn’t have been a conservative choosing half of them? And how about, perish the thought, having a conservative as a debate moderator one of these days?

A Moment of Arrogance

Michael Filozof:

In all the analysis and spin in the media about Tuesday night’s debate, one item seems to have escaped scrutiny— but it struck me at the moment that Obama said it as a statement of such remarkable arrogance and hubris that I had to check the transcript today to make sure he’d actually said what I’d heard.

He did.

Leaks, Lies, and Libya: How Not to Inform a Nation

By Larry Bailey:

While the current administration has strayed far from Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign promise that it would be the most transparent government in history, nothing so points to its failure to keep that promise as have events of the past two years.

Starting with the killing of Osama bin Laden in May 2011, the Obama administration has, in a very real sense, “informed” Americans of current events via selective and random leaks (many of them apparently unintentional). For example, on the day after the bin Laden mission, both the president and the vice president identified SEAL Team 6 as the unit executing the mission.

One might call this a “leak in plain sight,” but a leak it was, carrying with it every negative connotation in the word. From the perspective of my military mind, the identification of a specific unit as responsible for the death of bin Laden should, if it ever happened at all, have been the result of intelligence-gathering of the highest order on the part of America’s al-Qaeda enemy. That information surely should not have been provided “free of charge” by the nation’s commander-in-chief.

What damage, one asks, did the release of that information cause to the national defense?

Inmate tells arrested pro-lifer: ‘Your arrest in the abortion clinic saved my baby’

by Peter Baklinski, (LifeSiteNews.com):

Critics of Mary Wagner’s ministry to abortion-bound women claim that her strategy, which involves peacefully entering abortion facilities to hand out roses and literature to abortion-bound mothers, does not save lives but only results in her arrest and imprisonment.

But Mary, 39, who has been jailed numerous times – and is currently in jail – for boldly acting on her conviction that every human being deserves life, now has definite proof that her ministry has dramatically altered at least one person’s destiny.

Pro-life heroine Linda Gibbons, who has herself spent almost 10 years in jail for breaking “zone ordinances,” relayed to LifeSiteNews what she called a “wonderful, wonderful story” that she heard from Mary last Friday.

By Andrew Klavan

by Andrew Klavan:

Last night, my sense was pretty much the same as everyone’s: Obama did far better than his first outing; the debate was a tie on impressionistic points; the moderator befouled herself and her profession… and there was a strange after-effect in which the president’s lousy economic record continued to linger in the mind after the TV set was turned off. Go on RealClearPolitics and you’ll see op-eds and blogs with titles like, “A Wowsy-Wowser for Win-Win-Winning Obama,” and “Mitt Drives the Nail into Obama’s Coffin,” but I very much suspect these and other such writings will have exactly no effect and won’t change what people experienced for themselves.

Wow. Megyn Kelly’s focus group goes at it over Crowley’s “act of terror” misadventure last night

by The Right Scoop:

I’m not sure who is independent in this group because all of those supporting Candy Crowley stepping in last night sound like leftist hacks who don’t understand logic or truth. But on the flip side there are some in the group that make fantastic points about why Crowley should have kept her pie hole shut and let Romney argue with Obama.

If anything the dissension in this focus group over Obama’s phrasing of “act of terror” and what it meant bolsters the point that Crowley should have just stayed out of it.

Obama’s handling of Benghazi crisis suggests he’s unfit to be president

Fred J. Eckert:

Here’s a little test to tell whether someone is unfit to be president of the United States:

Suppose the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, has just been ravaged in an attack on the eleventh anniversary of 9/11 that has resulted in the deaths of the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans.

Suppose U.S. intelligence operations claim this occurred because of a spontaneous demonstration about a YouTube video that somehow spun out of control.

Suppose the U.S. State Department claims that no such demonstration occurred and that the attack and murders were the result of a well-coordinated terrorist attack.

Suppose the Libyan government claims that this was a pre-planned operation conducted by terrorists affiliated with al-Qaida.

Suppose that other American diplomatic missions in other countries are also under siege.

Would you:

Crowley: Obama’s Teleprompter Substitute

Nidra Poller:

We can now fairly assume that both Democrat and Republican analysts concluded that President Obama’s weak performance in the first presidential debate could be attributed to the absence of a teleprompter. The president’s reputation — earned or unearned — as a golden orator cannot be upheld without this prop. So, to level the playing field — as he is fond of saying — he was provided with a flesh and blood teleprompter in the shape of Candy Crowley for the second debate.

It was a Catch 22. If Mitt Romney had pointedly objected to this glaring intervention he would have been seen as the bad sport who shouts at the referee. The same goes for post-debate commentators. You’re not supposed to grumble about the conditions, it makes it look like your guy didn’t hold his own.
