Double Censorship: Granville Sewell Can’t Publish Article, Now Denied the Right to Publish His Rebuttal to Critics

Casey Luskin:

ENV readers will recall that last year, University of Texas El Paso mathematics professor Granville Sewell was disallowed from publishing an article in Applied Mathematics Letters (AML) simply because it was (indirectly) critical of Darwinian evolution.

To briefly recap the incident: Sewell’s paper had fully and successfully passed through the peer-review process and was about to be published in AML. Then the Darwin lobby mounted a campaign to pressure AML’s editor into withdrawing the paper.

The editor eagerly capitulated, evidently because he did not want to be perceived as lending sympathy to proponents of intelligent design. Sewell’s paper was never published. It was effectively censored.

Now, Sewell’s critics are being given space in the journal Mathematical Intelligencer (MI) to critique his censored article in AML. Nobody can reasonably object to critics having their say about Sewell’s work, but it’s outrageous that Sewell can’t publish his article staking out his position, while his critics are allowed to publish their article attacking it. In this latest development, Sewell is facing censorship again: MI won’t let him publish his response to critics!

Typical behaviour for the high priests of the Church of Darwin.

Who said it?

“Although he has never served our country in uniform, or risked his life to defend its freedoms and liberties on distant shores, it seems President Obama understands a thing or two about weaponry,” […] “But in the president’s case … the current weapon of choice is tax policy, and the enemies are small businesses, investors, entrepreneurs, and corporations, who seemingly are deemed undesirable.

“President Obama seems determined to punish and wipe out economic success in this country, leveling tax weapons of mass destruction on all taxpayers,” he added.

Prosecutor: Her Affidavit ‘Is A Crime’

by Alex Alvarez:

Lawyer, professor and political commentator Alan Dershowitz stopped by America Live Wednesday afternoon, where he shared his thoughts on the George Zimmerman case with host Megyn Kelly. In a nutshell: He thinks the case has gone to hell in a widely-publicized handbasket. Specifically, he believes that, if anyone should be tried in this case, it should be Special Prosecutor Angela Corey.

“This affidavit,” he said, “submitted by the prosecutor in the Florida case is a crime. It’s a crime. If she in fact knew about ABC News’ pictures of the bloody head of Zimmerman and failed to include that in the affidavit, this affidavit is not the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”

He also took the prosecution to task for having used the passive voice — “a struggle ensued” — to describe the altercation that allegedly took place between Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin leading up to Trayvon’s death without adding pertinent evidence and details, such as whether Martin had been on top of Zimmerman, thus able to bash his head against the pavement as Zimmerman has claimed.

The prosecution’s goal, Dershowitz explained, is to present all the details and evidence of the case in order to pursue justice, not merely to seek justice solely for one side of the case. And “you don’t indict based on false information,” he told Kelly.

‘You Can See It’s Not Selling Very Well’: SCOTUS Skeptical of Government’s Anti-Arizona Immigration Argument

by Madeleine Morgenstern:

The Supreme Court justices on Wednesday signaled they would let Arizona enforce its controversial immigration law, with both liberal and conservative members of the court sounding skeptical of the Obama administration’s claims that the law is an overreach of state authority.

Several recent incidents on campuses show that Jew-hate and double standards are alive and well.

Abraham H. Miller:

In February 2010, a student at the University of California, San Diego, left a noose dangling from a bookcase in the school library. Although the noose was directed at no individual student, the obvious racial overtones of this symbol of the Southern lynch mob provoked predictable outrage.

In protest, students occupied the chancellor’s office. A campus teach-in on tolerance was held. Black students publicly expressed their indignation, pain, and fear to a sympathetic campus administration. The chancellor issued an uncompromising statement condemning the incident and pledged to eliminate hatred on campus.

Once the racial cauldron bubbled over, a coed came forward and took responsibility for the incident. She wrote a letter of apology to the school newspaper and said that she never intended to make a racist statement. She had no idea of the historic implications of the noose. She herself was a member of a minority group.

The administration suspended her. Although by all accounts she was guiltier of abject stupidity than a hate crime, the campus administration asked the city and county attorneys as well as the FBI to file hate crime charges.

In May of the same year, David Horowitz spoke on the UCSD campus. During the question and answer period, Jumanah Imad Albahri, a member of the Muslim Student Association, unflinchingly announced her support for killing Jews.

The chancellor’s office was not stormed. Albahri was not suspended. The campus administration did not seek prosecution for a hate crime. The FBI was not called. The student government did not even announce that it would no longer commit 37,000 dollars to fund the MSA’s Jew-bashing Israel Apartheid Week. Ms. Albahri was simply expressing her constitutionally protected opinion.

Obama attacks Congresswoman: ‘Google her’

byCharlie Spiering:

On the stump yesterday, President Obama attacked Rep. Virginia Foxx R – N.C. for saying she had “very little tolerance” for people who complained about high student loans.

The president didn’t name Foxx in his speech, but referred to her as a “Republican Congresswoman.”

“She said she had ‘very little tolerance for people who tell me they graduate with debt because there’s not reason for that.” Obama said incredulously at the University of Colorado in Boulder. “She said students who rack up student load debt are just sitting on their butts having ‘opportunity dumped in your lap.'”

As the audience booed, Obama added, “You guys can Google her or what have you, but – think about that.”

Kagan’s Handwritten Notes to Bell on Critical Race Theory

by Joel B. Pollak:

[…]

As Solicitor General, Kagan cheered when Obama seized a national “crisis” to pass unrelated legislation whose goal is to create an effective right to health care. She has not recused herself from the subsequent Obamacare case, as she has from today’s suit over Arizona’s immigration law, in which her “skillful lawyering” played an important role.

If Obama is re-elected, Kagan could be part of the “more liberal court” Bell envisioned–and great changes in constitutional jurisprudence could be the result.

Stealing Our Elections

By Peter Ferrara:

All of it done under the watchful eye AG Holder and ACORN Obama.

Columnist David Limbaugh, brother of Rush, asks in a recent column, “Can anyone think of an innocuous reason that President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder oppose state voter ID laws?”

The correct answer is definitely “No!” But even Limbaugh dances around the full answer to the question, suggesting only at the end that the lack of a good reason to oppose voter ID suggests that the real motivation is an ulterior motive to rig elections.

Let’s be fully frank. It’s not just Obama and Holder, true. It’s the whole Democrat party. And the transparent reason they oppose Voter ID, and favor loose election laws like Motor Voter, election day registration, mail in registration, online voting, and extended voting over days and even weeks before Election Day is that vote fraud is a central Democrat strategy for “winning” elections.

Why Israel Should, and Probably Will, Attack Iran

By Norman Rogers:

The Holocaust weighs heavily on Israel and its leaders. Everyone knows the story of Jewish organizations pleading for help but helpless before the indifference of those in a position to make a difference. This history discourages looking at the world through rose-colored glasses. American liberals blithely dismiss the Iran threat because they assume that Iran is rational, that it will never attack Israel with nuclear weapons because of the threat of retaliation. Israelis are not inclined to put their faith in this convenient theory that validates inaction.

Obama says that he has Israel’s back. But what if, when things get difficult, he doesn’t have Israel’s back?

No charges over ‘reverse Trayvon Martin’ shooting in Phoenix area

David Paulin:

Police have yet to charge a black motorist who shot dead a mentally disabled and unarmed “white Hispanic,” Daniel Adkins, in a Taco Bell parking lot near Phoenix earlier this month. The two reportedly exchanged words before the shooting that occurred, according to some accounts, after the motorist almost ran over Adkins who then banged his fist on the car’s windshield.

The April 3 shooting by the 22-year-old black man — whom police in suburban Laveen have yet to identify — has gotten little if any coverage by the national media. Nor has President Obama weighed in on the case. Is it because Adkins doesn’t look like his son?

Whatever the case, the slaying of Adkins — who was walking his yellow lab on a leash — has ignited controversy in Arizona, and it has been commanding increasing attention in the blogosphere. Adkins’ grieving family says he had the mental capacity of a 12 year old. He lived with his mom and dad.

Local media outlets are describing Adkins as a Hispanic — yet with an “Anglo” name and light complexion, he easily qualifies as what the national media have called a “white Hispanic” when describing George Zimmerman. Is this why the national media has yet to take an interest in the case?

After Adkins was shot dead, his dog, Lady, stayed by his side, and a representative of the Humane Society was called to take the dog away. Police found no weapon at the scene despite the motorist’s claim that Adkins had one.

Muslim Persecution of Christians: March, 2012

by Raymond Ibrahim:

The war on Christianity and its adherents in the Muslim world rages on. In March alone, Saudi Arabia’s highest Islamic legal authority decreed that churches in the region must be destroyed; jihadis [holy warriors] in Nigeria said they “are going to put into action new efforts to strike fear into the Christians of the power of Islam by kidnapping their women”; American teachers in the Middle East were murdered for being Christian or talking about Christianity; churches were banned or bombed, and nuns terrorized by knife-wielding Muslim mobs. Christians continue to be attacked, arrested, imprisoned, and killed for allegedly “blaspheming” Islam’s prophet Muhammad; former Muslims continue to be attacked, arrested, imprisoned, and killed for converting to Christianity.

The extent of this persecution is virtually unknown in the West, due to the mainstream media’s well-documented biases: the mainstream media knows that if they do not ignore or at best whitewash the nonstop persecution of Christians under Islam, their narrative of Islam as the “religion of peace” would be quickly undermined.

Home About Gatestone Events Columnists Archives NY Senior Editors Anti-Christian and Anti-Jewish Sentiment in Malaysia

by Anna Mahjar-Barducci:

An anti-Semitic sermon prepared and distributed by the Malaysian Federal Territory Islamic Affairs Department was aired on March 30 in all the mosques of the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. The sermon called “to understand that Jews are the main enemy to Muslims as proven by their egotistical behavior and murders performed by them.” The sermon, as the media outlet Malaysian Insider reported, also called on community leaders to understand the importance of Jerusalem for Muslims. “The honor of al-Quds [Jerusalem] and the al-Aqsa mosque must be defended by all Muslims, as it is holy land that must be blessed,” the sermon had stated.

The media outlet, the Malaysian Insider explained that anti-Semitic feelings in Malaysia, which has no diplomatic ties with Israel, are not something new. and that the sermon was just a confirmation of the strong anti-Semitic and anti-Israel feelings in the country. The Malaysian National Censorship Board in March 1994 even banned the film “Schindler’s List” from the country’s cinemas, in accordance with the country’s long-standing anti-Semitic cultural policies, according to Tel Aviv University’s Stephen Roth Institute,
