Comedy!!! I wish it was true. I’m a Marxist, an actual one, and I wish this really was “a Marxist revolution that’s global in nature!” But alas, it isn’t (well, not yet). Honestly, if Van Jones, George Soros, Obama and Co. were to gain from these protests rest assured that the Marxist revolution you fear so much will have lost ground, because those Democrats aren’t socialist.
But I doubt you are understanding any of what I’m saying. So please continue doing what you are doing, call people “Marxist” who aren’t, call the Democrats “socialist”. Many people have woken up to the fact that Beck and FOX are all a bunch of liars, and the more you use those terms the more people take an interest in learning what Marx really said. So… Thank you, for spreading the word. :)

I’ve read Marx, thanks. Anything else you want to say?

I don’t think one can be technically defined as a troll after 2 comments. And he punted the ball back to your court (deleted); this is not trollish… trolls usually pontificate and go on as if you said nothing… he responded to you. I’ve never read Marx, so a discussion between two people who have, but hold different views. would be enlightening.

Duly noted but I maintain he had all the classic attributes of a troll.

So, Tim, if I may be so bold, let me repeat my questions. Which books by Marx have you read? And which one of his books spells out the theory behind what Glenn Beck is seeing?

Also, in the interest of full disclosure I did post concerning the comments here on my blog: http://didymuspov.blogspot.com/2011/10/what-right-wing-cant-tolerate.html

Sigh. I’m not going to spend an eternity debating economic or social theory. I used to be a fan of sorts of Marx. I don’t feel I’m here to answer your questions but this one time I will. I read Manifesto [sic] and Das Kapital. Beck is not the issue but his point in a general sense is that the protesters are, in the main, anti-capitalist. My problem with Marx is that he doesn’t understand that the private ownership of property is the foundation of freedom and he does not understand that the wealth produced by capital is a benefit which ultimately helps improve the lot of workers. The current mess in the markets, by the way, is the result of government interference, not capitalism. If you don’t believe me watch Peter Schiff either here on my site or on his. Bye.

Tim, thanks for the response. I asked those questions in part because I’ve found that in most cases those who say they’ve read Marx actually haven’t, but have only read a few excerpts taken grossly out of context and inflammatory quotes attributed to Marx, but not actually by him. (If perchance they actually had read him, then they didn’t understand what was written at all.) I’ve actually had conversations with people who’ve told me that “having studied the ‘Communist Manifesto’, everything about it hinges on the use of coercive taxes.” Of course, as you know, the ‘Communist Manifesto’ has nothing to do with coercive taxes at all. This situation I’ve found, unfortunately, is quite common, and Glenn Beck is a glaring example of this.
Since you clearly don’t want to discuss things further I won’t bother posting further reflections on your comment. Bye.
