Michael Coren on Anders Behring Breivik [MUST WATCH]

The Art of a Demagogue
By Victor Davis Hanson:
Barack Obama just spoke to the National Council of La Raza. Aside from the fact that he was not bothered by the group’s reactionary racialist brand (imagine media reaction to a “National Council of the Race”), the president was in top demagogic form with his usual rants about the old anonymous bogeymen “they”:

Thinking About the Terrorist Murders in Norway
by Barry Rubin:
I don’t think this terrorist attack in Norway was a jihadist conspiracy nor is this guy a secret Islamist terrorist. He is clearly right-wing and anti-Muslim, lashing out against forces (the government and Labor Party) that he holds responsible for the growing “Islamization” or multiculturalism in Norway. The evidence also indicates, by the way, that he was not motivated by Christian religious sentiment. He looks at Christianity as an outsider.
Should we argue that such people don’t exist? Should we argue that hatred of Muslims cannot provoke terrorism? Should we claim that you cannot be a “right-wing terrorist” just as one can be a “left-wing terrorist”? Of course not.
We should rather say things like — but not limited to — the following:
[...]
I mostly agree with Rubin, but not entirely. A case in point is that islam as a religion is a problem as I see it (I have read the Koran). Next, I see no real evidence this murdering maniac was a ‘right-winger’ (he does not appear to belong to any right-wing political parties) but rather there is copious evidence he was delusional and likely clinically insane.
“Why didn’t you come earlier?,” Utoeya survivors asked police
Reuters:
“Why didn’t you come earlier?,” survivors screamed when Norwegian police arrived after an hour in which Anders Behring Breivik had wandered the wooded island of Utoeya shooting dead 68 people, most of them teenagers.
In a nation united by grief over the worst massacre in its modern history, few except the survivors quoted by media have criticized authorities for not preventing the attacks or for the speed of their response once they had been carried out.
Already reeling from Breivik’s bomb in Oslo, the police response to the island massacre was beset with problems — from a boat so overloaded with officers it took on water, to special forces without a suitable helicopter to fly them there.
Meanwhile the minutes ticked by and Breivik hunted down his victims who hid under beds, climbed trees and hid in bushes or jumped into the lake in desperate attempts to flee.
[...]
This is not atypical but rather very, very predictable and there is a horrific lesson in it for you. The governments will first disarm you and then abandon you during emergencies. Ask any disaster survivor. You are on your own folks.
Islamophobia and Mass Murder
By Mark Steyn:
I have been away from the Internet for the weekend, and return to find myself being fitted out for a supporting role in Friday’s evil slaughter in Norway. The mass murderer Breivik published a 1,500-page “manifesto.” It quotes me, as well as several friends of NR — Theodore Dalrymple, Daniel Pipes, Roger Scruton, Melanie Phillips, Daniel Hannan (plus various pieces from NR by Rod Dreher and others) — and many other people, including Churchill, Gandhi, Orwell, Jefferson, John Locke, Edmund Burke, Bernard Shaw, Mark Twain, not to mention the U.S. Declaration of Independence.* Those new “hate speech” codes the Left is already clamoring for might find it easier just to list the authors Europeans will still be allowed to read.

Our Petulant and Inept President
Peter Wehner:
The negotiations about raising the debt ceiling remain extremely fluid, and it’s still too early to draw any definitive conclusions at this stage. But just a week away from the August 2 deadline, a few things do seem clear.
The first is the president’s angry and narcissistic press conference on Friday badly damaged the president, even with those, like David Brooks, who have been sympathetic to Obama’s substantive position.

Debunking the Left-Wing Myths About ‘Right-Wing, Extremist Christians’
By MARK HEMINGWAY:
Peter Beinart has a doozy of a column up over at the Daily Beast, rather breathlessly titled, “Why Norway Could Happen Here.” Since I suspect that Beinart managed to repeat every left-wing myth about the violent tendencies of Christians and conservatives, let’s take a look at the key paragraph:

Obama kills bipartisan deal, then Reid resorts to smoke and mirrors
By Jennifer Rubin:
As I reported earlier, the president rejected a bipartisan congressional deal that would have calmed the markets, resolved the debt-ceiling crisis and restored faith in Washington politicians. President Obama was having none of it, demonstrating once and for all that the problem is NOT the House Republicans, but the election-obsessed White House.

NASA: Muslim world here we come
Jeff Crouere:
Today, we have a President who is not asking the agency to shoot for the stars. Instead, Barack Obama has other goals for NASA, such as studying the so-called problem of man made global warming.
Liberals like President Obama do not want astronauts reaching for the stars, they want rocket scientists to place their focus on Planet Earth, studying global temperatures and producing research that will support green energy initiatives.
Incredibly, President Obama’s other primary mission for NASA is to reach out to the Muslim world. Last year, NASA Administrator Charles Bolden told Al-Jazeera television that President Obama gave him three primary tasks: encourage children to learn about math and science, improve relations with foreign nations and “perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science … and math and engineering.”
It is ludicrous for NASA to be focused on Muslim outreach or boosting the self esteem of the Islamic world. NASA should not be an arm of the State Department. It is just another indication of how far the agency has strayed from its primary mission.

Time to Fire Eric Holder
by Human Events:
It has been strange to watch the mainstream media ignore the most incredible scandal of the modern era—the “Gunwalker” program used by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to pump American guns into Mexico—while lavishing obsessive coverage on the News of the World phone-hacking debacle in England.
Of course, the motivations of the media are not difficult to understand. There has been absolutely no evidence that News Corp. owner Rupert Murdoch had anything to do with the invasions of privacy carried out by certain employees at one of his many newspapers. But because he also owns influential conservative American media properties such as the Wall Street Journal, and especially, Fox News, media liberals find themselves looking at a very large domino and praying for it to fall.

West: Republican Party must regain its credibility

This is a great way to start a Monday morning, with a short speech from Allen West speaking of our great American principles and how the Republican Party must regain its credibility in pursuit of those principles (via Shark-Tank)
The Character Assassination of Robert Spencer
by David Horowitz Bio:
The New York Times today has a wretched editorial masquerading as a news story on Robert Spencer and his alleged complicity in the Oslo massacres because his ideas are cited by the lunatic responsible. Joseph McCarthy could not have done it better. The Times next will blame Noam Chomsky for the crimes of Osama bin Laden and Al Gore for the crimes of the Unabomber since the ideas of both were cited by the lunatics. Chomsky is not only cited by the Islamic terrorists, he openly supports them — yet the Times would be the first to express shock and outrage at mere suggestion of Chomsky’s complicity in the crimes of al-Qaeda, Hizbollah and Hamas.
Robert Spencer has never supported a terrorist act. His crime in the eyes of the left is to have told the truth about Islamic fanatics beginning with the Islamic prophet who called for the extermination of the Jews and said in his farewell speech that he was called to fight until all men say that there is no God but allah. (see Bruce Thornton’s article today’s Frontpage).

Is Obama a pathological liar?
By Joseph Curl:
“Mendacity is a system that we live in.”
- Brick, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”
In the weird world that is Washington, men and women say things daily, hourly, even minutely, that they know deep down are simply not true. Inside the Beltway, we all call those utterances “rhetoric.”
But across the rest of the country, plain ol’ folk call ‘em lies. Bald-faced (even bold-faced) lies. Those folks have a tried-and-true way of determining a lie: If you know what you’re saying is patently false, then it’s a lie. Simple.
And lately, the president has been lying so much that his pants could burst into flames at any moment.

The Tea Party, Right About Everything
By Randall Hoven:
The false narrative is that the Tea Party is a bunch of stubborn nuts, if not outright racists. In truth, the Tea Party has been right about everything, while almost everyone else has been nuts, especially the “experts.”
Minimum wage. One of the first things Democrats did after taking back Congress in 2007 was raise the federal minimum wage 41% from 2007 to 2009. Result? The unemployment rate went from 4.4% in May 2007 to 10.1% in 2009. It is 9.2% even today — four years later.
As for teens, the unemployment rate went from 14.9% to 27.1%, the highest ever recorded, meaning since 1948. Today it is still a high 24.5%. And for blacks: from a low of 7.9% in 2007 to 16.5% in 2010. It is still a high 16.2%.
The Democrat Congress also decided to apply the same minimum wages to American Samoa. Results? Near-decimation of its economy, one that had been based largely on low-cost tuna canning and textile work.

Euro-killer ripped off peaceful Euro-critic
James Lewis:
Norway’s “Knight Templar” killer of almost 100 innocent people is hardly a “Christian,” although he is certainly an “extremist.” The liberal media are having a field day confusing millions of people about Christianity and mass murder.
Anders Behring Breivik is in fact a mass murdering terrorist. He has major paranoid psychotic symptoms (see below). Psychiatrists have known for centuries that paranoid psychotics can become killers.
Breivik apparently concocted his personal war ideology based on the medieval Knights Templar — who were disbanded by order of Pope Clement V in 1312. That would be 800 years ago.
In his web manifesto the Euro-killer lifted two sources without crediting their authors:

Being ‘Right-wing’ is about freedom, not violence
By Norman Tebbit:
There is no doubt that the Norwegian massacre is a truly dreadful story of the kind bound to dominate the headlines. Nor is there any doubt that all decent people would want to express their sympathy with the bereaved, and I thought that just as the Norwegian people send us a Christmas tree every year in thanks for our support during the War, the suggestion that we might send them a tree to symbolise our feelings for them at this time made sense. But as the evening wore on and more than half of every news broadcast was filled with endlessly repeated pictures of the bomb damage in Oslo and aerial shots of the island camp site, I become growingly irritated at the exclusion of almost all other news.
As for the BBC, I am not in the least surprised that it has denounced Anders Behring Breivik as – yes, you’ve guessed it – an extreme Right-winger. After all, Left-wingers like the Baader Meinhof gang don’t kill people, do they? There was time, too, for a bit of Christian-bashing and not too much thought about the doctrines of Christianity. Then Breivik’s views on Islam (similar to Prime Minister Putin’s views on Chechnya) and those on immigration (shared by Pol Pot and Mao) were used to fit him up as a Nazi and therefore an extreme Right-winger. The only bit missing from the charge sheet is that we do not know if he was a climate change denier and, like Tony Benn, a critic of the European Union.
