Obama to Christians: Forget you

The Washington Times:

President Obama delivered official messages for Passover, Ramadan and Diwali. But for Easter? Not so much. The White House came under fire this week for neglecting to issue official statements for either Easter or Good Friday, though Mr. Obama did take time Friday to address Earth Day, a celebration observed by tens of thousands of pagan worshippers of the earth goddess Gaia

‘I won and my baby’s alive’

By Jeff Bolichowski, The Windsor Star:

He’s breathing without a ventilator, Maraachli said, after surgery in St. Louis to perform the airway-opening tracheotomy his family sought but couldn’t get in Canada as they battled to bring Joseph home to die.

“I feel victorious,” Maraachli told The Star, smiling broadly as he stood by Joseph’s crib. “I feel I won and my baby’s alive.”

But he’s also been left with questions about why he and wife Sana Nader had to go to the U.S. for help.

“That’s what makes me mad,” he said. “Why I have to travel to St. Louis?

“I trust my medical system. We have a perfect medical system in Ontario.”

But the doctors in London, he said, let him down.

He’s not angry at the hospital itself, he said, but he feels he’s owed an explanation for the decision to refuse Joseph the tracheotomy.

He isn’t sure how long Joseph will live. And he declined to guess how much time he and his son have left.

“That’s by God and by him,” he said, his tone calm and positive. “I never think about that and I don’t think about (that) day.”

Culture: Bob Dylan in China

Robert Barron, WORD ON FIRE:

Father Barron responds to Maureen Dowd’s article in the New York Times in which she accuses Bob Dylan of “selling out” to the Chinese government at his recent concert in Beijing. Read his response here.

Knowing my interest in all things Bob Dylan, a friend sent me an article recently penned by Maureen Dowd, columnist for the New York Times. It had to do with the maestro’s recent (and unprecedented) appearance in China, but it was far from an encomium. Dowd took Bob Dylan sharply to task for caving in to the Communist authorities, apparently agreeing to their demands not to sing any of his best-known anti-war and counter-cultural anthems from the sixties:

Obama to Ignore Ban on Czars

by Tom Fitton:

Would it surprise you to learn that Obama believes it is his “prerogative” to ignore the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law when it comes to appointing czars? That’s essentially what he said recently.

Here’s the scoop according to Politico:

President Barack Obama is planning to ignore language in the 2011 spending package that would ban several top White House advisory posts.

House Republicans tacked on language to the contentious spending bill to cut the salaries for four so-called czars — policy advisers appointed to assist the president on health care, climate change, autos and manufacturing, and urban affairs.

But in a signing statement issued Friday, Obama said he’s not obligated to comply.

“The president also has the prerogative to obtain advice that will assist him in carrying out his constitutional responsibilities, and do so not only from executive branch officials and employees outside the White House, but also from advisers within it,” the statement said.

The president added that the ban on czars would undermine “the President’s ability to exercise his constitutional responsibilities and take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” (Did you catch that? Obama is telling us he must ignore the Constitution to protect the Constitution. Many Obama administration czars have not been subject to confirmation by the U.S. Senate as required by the Constitution.)

Can Boeing Really Fight The US Government?

John Ellis:

Washington State has been a “base” state for Democratic presidential campaigns since 1988. South Carolina has been a “base” state for Republican presidential campaigns since 1980.

When Boeing announced that it would be moving part of its 787 manufacturing capability from Washington State to South Carolina, it was only a matter of time before the Obama Administration would retaliate.

It wasn’t a long wait.

Abbas laments the failure of Hope & Change

Ed Morrissey:

This should raise some serious questions about the intentions of the Obama administration in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. The collusion between Obama and Abbas on a poison pill demand is either an incompetent attempt to impose Obama’s own views on the conflict or a serious attempt to derail Benjamin Netanyahu. The White House made its displeasure with Netanyahu well known over the last two years. This looks like an attempt to push Netanyahu out of office by pinning him with the failure of the latest iteration of peace talks.

President Obama Chose To Worship On Easter At A Church That Hosted A Palestinian Hate-Israel Conference

by Joseph Klein:

President Obama and the first family attended Easter services at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. As the mainstream press made sure to point out, this church was founded in 1863 by freed slaves.

MSNBC proclaimed:

Obama attends Easter service at historic church: The first family enters Shiloh Baptist Church to a round of applause

It would be such a heart-warming picture of religious devotion except that the mainstream press neglected to mention a couple of things about the church which Obama chose for his Easter worship. The Shiloh Baptist Church hosted an anti-Israel hate fest in 2009 at the same time as an associate minister of the church, Adam Russell Taylor, was serving as an Obama administration White House Fellow in the Office of Cabinet Affairs, Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs.

Leftists Visit, Hug Mother of Fogel Murderer

by Gil Ronen:

Several ultra-leftist groups organized a visit to the Arab village of Awarta on Saturday, April 16, in support of the villagers and against the IDF’s activities there in the search for the murderers of Ruth and Rabbi Ehud Fogel and their children Yoav (11), Elad (4) and Hadas (three months).

The leftists visited several homes in the Samaria village, including that of the Awad family, which spawned the murderers.

Obama’s Easter Sunday Pastor Rails Against Racist Talk Radio (Compares Rush to KKK!)

by Jonathon M. Seidl:

The media stood and applauded yesterday when President Obama and his family went to church for Easter. Yesterday’s visit to Shiloh Baptist Church in D.C. shows again that Obama really is a man of faith, the reports seem to suggest.

But while the media rushed to report on the first family’s attendance of the predominately black congregation (and the family’s outfits), what it failed to mention were the views held by the church’s pastor. And while those views are not delivered in the same fiery manner as Obama’s former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, they sound eerily familiar.

What views are those? How about that the country is still racist, that racists get programs on Fox News, and that Rush Limbaugh is the new KKK.

It won’t be enough for Obama to lose in 2012. Obama must be replaced by a principled conservative (Allen West, Sarah Palin or the like) who will undo ever single thing he and his marxist anti-American and anti-Christian shock troops have done since the last election and furthermore must undo the policies of the past 100 years of the progressive leftist revolutionaries.

The Syrian Spectacle at the UN

by Anne Bayefsky:

There’s breaking news from the United Nations on Syria. Democracy-seekers are dying all over the country. Meanwhile, at the United Nations, negotiations over what would be the organization’s first-ever definition of terrorism ended with deadlock on Friday after fifteen years of talking about it.

Leading the naysayers from the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) was Syria, a country that claimed that murdering its preferred antagonists doesn’t count. That might be just a bad joke, except for the fact that the Obama administration has made the U.N. the centerpiece of its national security policy.

The Complete Conservative

Matt Barber:

What is the Tea Party? Who is the Tea Party? Big media types and the larger left have their demagogic spin: Tea Partyers are racist, backwoods, anti-government dunderheads with a predisposition toward domestic terrorism. In a word, they’re “extremists.”

This disingenuous political packaging was recently divulged as an official Democratic talking point in a gaffe by the ever-loquacious Sen. Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat. During a super-secret conference call with reporters he explained that, while referencing the Tea Party, “I always use the word ‘extreme.’ That is what the caucus instructed me to use this week.”

This characterization, of course, is twaddle and liberals know it. But when called out on what constitutes genuine extremism, the ad hominem attack remains the “progressive” device of choice for those endeavoring to “fundamentally transform” America. It’s impossible to make a secular-socialist omelet without breaking a few constitutionalist eggs.

Rule 13 of “community organizer” Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” presents the budding provocateur with a template: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

Obama Versus the Constitution

By James Lewis:

The genius of the Constitution is not some person, time, or place. It is a very improbable conjunction of all three. Jefferson and Madison were not the only ones to fear the abuse of power. That idea goes back to the Epic of Gilgamesh. Every family with an alcoholic father or a tyrannical grandmother knows it. In England John Locke and Edmund Burke feared tyranny as much as the American founders, but they never had a chance to build the foundations of a new, independent, great power.

Obama is our first Marxist-Leninist president. He never quite uses those words, but in words and deeds he makes it clear beyond doubt. His two autobiographies all but say it.
