But, Kristinn just recently captured some of Jones’ remarks at the rally. The video also shows one speaker praising the 9-11 attackers as heroes.

The department’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) wrote Tuesday to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar S. Smith to say it found no “misconduct” in Obama administration political appointees overruling career attorneys in dropping most charges and penalties against the individuals who stood menacingly outside a polling place in military-style uniforms, holding nightsticks.

This opinion echoes that Britain’s Equality and Human Rights Commission, which, according to the Daily Mail, claimed foster children risked becoming “infected” by the Johnses’ Christian beliefs.

Rwanda Was Genocide. Libya Is a Civil War

The president made it clear in his speech that the U.S.-led war against Libya is primarily motivated to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe. “We were faced with the prospect of violence on a horrific scale,” he said. “To brush aside America’s responsibility as a leader and – more profoundly – our responsibilities to our fellow human beings under such circumstances would have been a betrayal of who we are. Some nations may be able to turn a blind eye to atrocities in other countries. The United States of America is different.”
This gives credence to the reports that Hilary Clinton, the secretary of state, Susan Rice, the U.S. permanent representative to the U.N., and Samantha Power, N.S.C. senior director for multilateral affairs, led the charge to war specifically to avoid “another Rwanda.” The latter two especially have been outspoken in their belief that the United States was wrong not to intervene to stop the 1994 genocide in Rwanda in which the ethnic Hutu Interahamwe militia slaughtered some 800,000 fellow Rwandans in a few weeks while the world watched. One diplomat told Power she shouldn’t let Libya become “Obama’s Rwanda,” according to the New York Times. Rwanda looms darkly in the liberal conscience as a powerful prod of guilt, whispering “Next time, do something. Do anything. Anything is better than nothing.”
Liberals have a point about Rwanda. It was grotesque that troop-contributing countries actually withdrew their forces from the U.N. Mission in Rwanda (UNAMIR), rather than beef it up with more resources and authority, as the genocide unfolded. (However, Power betrays her ignorance of military realities when she argued in her book, A Problem From Hell, that the U.N. could have stopped the genocide with the assets it had on the ground at the time).
But Libya is not Rwanda. Rwanda was genocide. Libya is a civil war.

In 2007 the Israeli government under Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced that it was willing to grant amnesty to members of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the terror arm of PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party, in exchange for a pledge that the group’s fighters lay down their arms and renounce violence.
Since that time, despite a still active Gaza branch and many documented attacks in the West Bank for which the brigades have taken credit, Israeli journalists and commentators have declared the organization disbanded.
Imagine my surprise, therefore, when in the end of November ,I read on the Palestinian news agency Qudsnet’s website that a spokesman for the Brigades, one Abu-Udai, had declared that the brigades were still extant and that they were only refraining from carrying out attacks due to a tactical decision by Abu Mazen [Abbas] to pursue a diplomatic track.

A Single Question for Ban Ki-moon

And it is posed in response to a statement made on behalf of the secretary-general of the UN this week:
“A way must be found for Jerusalem to emerge as a capital of two states.”
It is, of course, important to keep in mind that Ban Ki-moon represents one of the most morally deficient of international agencies, an agency that is blatantly and unabashedly anti-Israel.
And yet… and yet… there is a perversity to Ban’s logic – or absence thereof – that is greatly troubling.
Every single resolution of the UN Security Council pertinent to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has said that the issues must be resolved via negotiations between the parties. And here comes the head of the UN, with a statement that directly undermines that principle: He is prepared to state before the fact of final negotiations what the outcome “must” be.
And why “must” it be?

1. Update: Vietnamese Christian lawyer released

Nguyen Van Dai, a Vietnamese human rights lawyer and religious freedom
advocate was recently released after serving his four-year sentence.
Van Dai, arrested in March 2007 on accusations relating to his defense
of religious freedom (see http://www.persecution.net/vn-2007-05-16.htm
), must still fulfill a four-year administrative, or “house arrest,”
sentence.
Praise the Lord for Van Dai’s release! Ask God to fill him with
enduring hope and faith as he serves his house arrest sentence. Pray
that the Church in Vietnam will continue to grow and be a light to
others. Pray for comfort for the many other Vietnamese Christians in
prison.

2. Update: Detained Bibles released in Malaysia

Two shipments totaling approximately 30,000 Bibles detained by
Malaysian port authorities in January (see
http://www.persecution.net/my-2011-03-17.htm
) were recently released. Authorities seized the Bibles, which had
been imported from Indonesia for distribution in schools, churches and
longhouses, because they claimed they could cause a conflict with an
ongoing court case involving use of the word “Allah” in a Catholic
newspaper. Most Christians, however, believe the government is worried
that the Bibles will be distributed to Muslim Malays, and see the
seizure as part of a systematic plan to deny access to the Bible in
Malay. Authorities had taken similar action in March 2009, when they
detained 5,100 copies of the Good News Bible in Malay in Port Klang.
The government’s decision to release this recent shipment came with
the condition that the books are stamped with a serial number and the
inscription “For Christians Only” on the cover. Malaysian Christian
leaders have refused these terms, fearing the government would use the
serial numbers to track the Bibles and penalize those who accepted
them. At last report, the Malaysian Bible Society has rejected the
restrictions placed on the Bibles and is refusing to collect them.
Praise God for the release of these Bibles. Pray Christians in
Malaysia will remain faithful in spite of opposition from those in
authority. Pray they will know that they are not alone, but part of
the Body of Christ. Pray these Bibles will somehow get into the hands
of those who long for the life and truth found through Jesus Christ
(John 14:6).

3. Two Christians slain in Pakistan

Two Christians were recently killed by Muslim youths who opened fire
on believers outside a church in Sindh Province, Pakistan. Residents
of Hurr Camp, a colony of working-class Christians in the city of
Hyderabad, were reportedly celebrating the 30th anniversary of their
Salvation Army church when a group of Muslim youths gathered outside
the building and started playing music loudly on their cell phones.
The Muslims also started teasing Christian women as they arrived for
the celebration. Four Christians went outside the church building and
told the Muslims to stop teasing the women and to respect the sanctity
of the church. An argument ensued. The Muslim youths eventually left,
but returned with handguns. They then opened fire on the Christians.
Younus, 47, and Jameel, 22, were killed instantly. The other
believers, Siddique, 45, and Waseem, 20, were seriously injured. At
last report, they were hospitalized in the capital city of Karachi.
Younis leaves behind a wife and four children. Jameel is survived by
his wife of one month. The grief of the slain believers’ families has
been exacerbated by the police’s indifference to the case. Authorities
did not even register a case in the killings until late that night,
and only did so after local Christians blocked the main highway with
the two bodies for some hours. Jameel’s paternal uncle, Anwar, alleged
that the police were biased against the Christians, as none of the
accused has been arrested so far. “Please pray for us,” he said.
Ask God to comfort all those who mourn for Jameel and Younis, filling
them with the peace that surpasses understanding in the midst of their
grief (Philippians 4:7). Pray that the Lord will bring their murderers
to justice. Pray for cross-bearing disciples in Pakistan committed to
the Great Commission.

4. House Church raided by police in China

Chinese authorities recently raided a home in Shaanxi Province where
believers were gathered for Sunday worship. On March 13, a dozen
Christians were attending a house-church service in the village of
Ma’an when the local police chief and two other officers barged into
the building. The officers confiscated Bibles and other Christian
literature. They also took all of the believers into police custody.
Ten of the Christians were released that same evening. At last report,
however, two believers–Weng and Zhang Yongkuan–remain detained.
Pray for the release of the two detained Christians. Pray that
believers in the village will not lose heart but will trust the Lord
in all things. Pray for wisdom for area church leaders in the midst of
opposition. Pray that authorities in China will truly respect the
religious freedom of all citizens.

Boy Suspended for Bringing Bible To School Files Suit

A San Diego-area teen suspended for bringing his Bible to school and talking about his faith has filed a lawsuit against the school district, the superintendent, an assistant principal, and a teacher.
In January 2010, 16-year-old Kenneth Dominguez was suspended for two days from Gateway East High School for violating a teacher’s order not to bring his Bible to school and not to discuss his faith with others. Dominguez’s Bible was even confiscated by that teacher, who said Dominguez’s actions violated “separation of church and state:”

A Dangerous Doctrine

A growing number of observers—from here at FrontPage to NRO to Foreign Affairs—are calling the West’s intervention in Libya’s civil war a test run for the UN’s so-called “Responsibility to Protect” doctrine. The Responsibility to Protect (or R2P, as UN types call it) basically holds that nation-states have a responsibility “to protect their populations—whether citizens or not—from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity, and from their incitement,” in the words of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Further, the doctrine holds that UN member states have a “responsibility to respond in a timely and decisive manner…to help protect populations” when a nation-state commits one of these acts. As the secretary general concedes, R2P “could have profound implications.”

This ancient collection of 70 tiny books, their lead pages bound with wire, could unlock some of the secrets of the earliest days of Christianity.
Academics are divided as to their authenticity but say that if verified, they could prove as pivotal as the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947.
On pages not much bigger than a credit card, are images, symbols and words that appear to refer to the Messiah and, possibly even, to the Crucifixion and Resurrection.
Adding to the intrigue, many of the books are sealed, prompting academics to speculate they are actually the lost collection of codices mentioned in the Bible’s Book Of Revelation.

Great works of art can persuade people to believe that a lie is true, that good is evil, and that evil is good.
For example, the film Paradise Now, which I reviewed in these pages more than five years ago, is a brilliant piece of propaganda whose aim was—and still is—to support a (false) Palestinian “narrative” over and above its true Israeli counterpart. It is a powerful film, but one which does not serve the cause of truth so much as that of propaganda.
Director Hany Abu-Assad’s Israelis are all soldiers: ominous, hard-eyed, helmeted, armed, and in tanks. They are depersonalized and demonized. There are no exceptions.
On the other hand, Abu-Assad portrays even Palestinian suicide killers as soulful and compassionate. They are made to seem western, or “just like us.” Abu-Assad’s only female character is completely fictional, but that is why we “like” her. She dresses in a modern, sexy way, lives alone (this is not possible), and is a European-style “pacifist.”
The Big Lies never stop coming—packaged pleasantly, believably. Abu-Assad’s two sympathetic suicide killers tell outright lies: that Israel has consistently rejected a two-state solution when, in fact, it is the Palestinians who have; and that Jewish Israelis, not Muslim Arabs, have carried out “programs of ethnic cleansing.”

The other day in a long-winded post, I speculated that because the UN’s Responsibility to Protect doctrine is so broad, it may end up being used in ways Americans will not like. I wondered:
Might the time come when Israel faces a UN R2P action for taking out terrorist bases in the Palestinian territories or southern Lebanon?
Well, it’s worth a little digging around to find out who’s actually behind the R2P project. It’s fairly new and has not generated a great deal of public debate, even amongst folks like me who closely watch foreign policy trends. Turns out there’s a UN commission on the subject, with members listed here. Most of the names are unfamiliar, but one does jump out.

As WND first reported, billionaire philanthropist George Soros is a primary funder and key proponent of the Global Centre for Responsibility to Protect, the world’s leading organization pushing the military doctrine. Several of the doctrine’s main founders sit on multiple boards with Soros.
The doctrine and its founders, as WND reported, have been deeply tied to Obama aide Samantha Power, who reportedly heavily influenced Obama in consultations leading to the decision to bomb Libya. Power is the National Security Council special adviser to Obama on human rights.
