On Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Obama Corrupts Political Language
Peter Wehner:
On the 38th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s pro-choice decision in Roe v. Wade, President Obama said in a statement that Roe “affirms a fundamental principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters.”
To which one might ask: since when is lethal violence used on the defenseless and the most vulnerable members of our society considered an intrusion on “private family matters”?
This line of argument is absurd. Would the president argue that our laws should be silent on matters of spousal and child abuse? After all, based on the Obama Criterion, those, too, might qualify as “private family matters.”
The president’s statement that abortion on demand affirms a “fundamental principle” is evidence of a man who is willing to corrupt the English language in order to advance an ideological agenda — and in this instance, a particularly vicious and brutal agenda.

Progressives Seek To Deflect From Frances Fox Piven Remarks By Calling Glenn Beck Anti-Semitic
by Dana Loesch:
I love when progressives who’ve stood against Israeli settlements and “zionists” suddenly find compassion for Jewish people, even if it’s manufactured compassion to feign straw man outrage at conservatives. Baby steps!
While watching this interview with Frances Fox Piven posted below, I momentarily missed Olbermann. Sure, he was a far-left partisan, but he was an entertaining broadcaster, something from which his socialist views cannot detract.
Here is MSNBC sub Cenk Uygur in a bizarre interview with Piven right after he tries to make Glenn Beck out to be anti-semitic because some of the people he criticizes are or may be Jewish:

circumcision: A painless, live-saving surgery
Barbara Kay:
In 1970, some 97% of American males, and about 70% of Canadian males were circumcised. Those numbers have fallen dramatically, thanks in large part to ardent activism by anti-circumcision “rights” groups.
Jackson Doughart believes that the Canadian government should pass legislation that would prevent religious leaders and health-care legislators from performing or authorizing the ritual circumcisions of newborn children. He bases his argument on two often-adduced moral grounds: that the circumcision of infants violates their human rights, because they cannot give informed consent to the procedure, and that male circumcision is a “mutilation,” comparable to female genital mutilation (FGM), already outlawed.

The Palestinian Authority: Hypocricy, Lies and Double Talk
by Khaled Abu Toameh:
Documents revealed by Al-Jazeera, the popular and influential Qatari-owned TV network, have reconfirmed the widely believed perception that the Palestinian Authority speaks in more than one voice.
These documents expose the Palestinian leadership’s double standards and hypocrisy. They show that the Palestinian Authority, headed by Mahmoud Abbas, has not been telling Palestinians the truth about the peace process.
According to the documents, Palestinian negotiators went as far as ceding control over almost the entire area of east Jerusalem. This position contradicts the Palestinian Authority’s public position, namely that it would not agree to any concessions on east Jerusalem, which it insists must become the future capital of a Palestinian state.

The prophetic truth of the birth certificate issue
The interview was going well up to that point. And it was there that I lost out. The more I answered their pointed questions, the more I realized that there was a unification within the conservative circles in Washington, DC against pursuing the eligibility requirement of the presidency. They tried to pass it off as rumor. When I spoke of straightforward documentation, they passed that off as not credible. When I spoke of reliable sources in Kenya who visited villages and gathered information, they said it was chasing after rainbows. It was clear that by the end of the interview, I not only would not get the job, but that the conservative elite inside the beltway were never going to pursue the birth certificate issue.

Canada’s right to deny Emirates more airport landing slots
By EZRA LEVANT:
Benito Mussolini, the Italian dictator during the Second World War, is called a fascist but an equally accurate label is “corporatist.”
Private corporations were allowed to operate, but Mussolini had control over them. It was a partnership between the government and everyone else, and Mussolini was the senior partner.
For a while, Mussolini’s corporatist dictatorship dazzled the world with its achievements. When North America languished in the Depression, Italy built the world’s fastest cruise ship and fastest sea plane and massive public works projects. Admirers said he “made the trains run on time.”
So, pretty much like today’s United Arab Emirates.
The UAE is a dictatorship. But it allows companies to operate, often with a member of the royal family involved.
Unlike Mussolini, the UAE has two huge sources of wealth. It’s an OPEC nation with enormous oil reserves. And though it only has a million citizens, four million temporary foreign labourers do all the work, with low pay and few civil rights.

Obama’s crony capitalism – Government Electric, Government Motors; what industry is next?
The Washington Times:
President Obama is continuing his outreach to American business, though the principal business he wants to reach out to is General Electric. Mr. Obama seems to have decided that what’s good for GE is good for America, or at least for himself.
It has been a banner year in government largesse for America’s fourth-largest corporation. This month, the Federal Communications Commission approved the 51 percent/49 percent NBC Universal joint venture between Comcast and GE. Last week, GE announced a White House-backed plan for another joint venture with a Chinese avionics company. Mr. Obama capped the good news by naming GE Chief Executive Jeffrey R. Immelt as head of the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness – this after GE eliminated 18,000 U.S. jobs in 2009 (the most recent data available).

The BBC became a propaganda machine for climate change zealots
By Peter Sissons:
Institutionally biased to the Left, politically correct and with a rudderless leadership. This is Peter Sissons’ highly critical view of the BBC in his new memoirs, in which he describes his fascinating career over four decades as a television journalist. Here, in the latest part of our serialisation, he reveals how it was heresy at the BBC to question claims about climate change . . .My time as a news and current affairs anchor at the BBC was characterised by weak leadership and poor direction from the top, but hand in hand with this went the steady growth of political correctness.
Indeed, it was almost certainly the Corporation’s unchallengeable PC culture that made strong leadership impossible.
Leadership — one person being in charge, trusting his or her own judgment, taking a decision and telling others what to do— was shied away from in favour of endless meetings of a dozen or more people trying to arrive at some sort of consensus.

Harrowing testimony of Israeli commandos aboard Gaza-bound ship — ‘Armed Mob lynched us’– Unreported by NYT, WaPo
Leo Rennert:
As part of its inquiry into Israel’s interception of a Gaza-bound flotilla last May, an Israeli blue-ribbon commission interviewed the commandos who clambered down from a helicopter above one of the vessels, where a heavily armed mob viciously attacked and injured them, some within an inch of their lives. When the commandos finally opened fire in self-defense, nine Turkish attackers were left dead.
Mainstream media have devoted extensive coverage to the dead Turks, but virtually none to the attacks on the Israeli commandos and to their extensive injuries.
Here are some of the accounts given by the first commandos to reach the vessel. None of their testimony, included in the commission’s report, has appeared in either the New York Times or the Washington Post.

(ACORN) New Scam: “New York Communities for Change”
Pam Gellar:
The moochers, looters, parasites and vultures are back with a new mask. Yes, the bloodsuckers have returned — and are quickly back to stealing, looting, robbing the children, the schools, the working man, the poor …. all to line the fat pockets of fat cat statists.
Predictably, the leecher teachers unions are paying off these thugs big time — giving (ACORN) New York Communities for Change more than $200,000 last year — a big chunk of the advocacy group’s budget. NYCC’s views on education mirrors the UFT’s.
The UFT last year opposed the city’s attempt to close 20 failing schools and replace them with new schools with new principals and teachers. Vampires.
And of course, (ACORN) New York Communities for Change is against a Wal-Mart in New York City, despite the overwhelming poll numbers — over 87% of New Yorkers want a Wal-Mart. Hey, screw the poor, it’s what the left does best. Keep the slaves down and under their thumb.

Tucson, Piven, and the Left’s Strategic Blunder
By Stanley Kurtz:
[...]
The hope of silencing Beck in the wake of Tucson has lured the left into a strategic blunder. They’ve decided to turn Piven into a martyr. Yet in doing so the left has tied itself to Piven’s wild writings and over-the-top radicalism. Dreier acts as though Piven’s scholarly work is somehow different from the calls for rioting, crisis, and polarization in her two notorious Nation articles. Actually, Piven’s scholarly writings are worse. Read Poor People’s Movements and you’ll see what I mean. The left could and should have disowned Piven’s extremism long ago. Jack Beatty’s 1977 review of Poor People’s Movements in the Nation was actually negative, calling Piven to account for her counterproductive and intentionally polarizing tactics. A quarter century later the Nation has embraced Piven’s call for Euro-style rioting in America, allowing her to speak with the magazine’s editorial voice. It’s not Beck who’s tarring the left with the Brush of Piven’s radicalism. They’re doing it to themselves.

Muslims of the Americas’ New Target: Gullible Christians
by Ryan Mauro:
On Saturday, January 8, 2001, a nice-sounding organization called the United Muslim Christian Forum (UMC) held an event in Binghamton, New York, for members of both faiths to “share, in unity, their love and admiration for Jesus, son of Mary (peace be upon him).” Gullible Christians and officials have supported the event, unaware or unconcerned that it is a front for the anti-Semitic extremist group Muslims of the Americas (MOA) and its leader in Pakistan, Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani.
There is no excuse for those who have embraced the UMC, as its website says it was founded by Sheikh Gilani and no effort is made to disguise UMC’s status as an MOA front. The UMC website also spouts the same ideology. At a 2008 event, the leadership proclaimed that “…we will no longer be duped or manipulated by a ‘hidden hand’ into fighting, or going to war with each other.” The write-up on the event, which claims 3000 Muslims and Christians attended, then argues that the 9/11 attacks were an “inside job” by the U.S., UK, Israel and international bankers. It describes the attacks as “Stage One of getting the Western world, on behalf of the Jews, to go to war with the Arab world.”

Anti-Semitism: The New Necessity for Arab Regimes
by Mudar Zahran:
For more than sixty years of conflict, the carefully government-channeled hatred revolved around Zionism and Israel, rather than around Judaism and Jews.
Since 2008, however, the Jordanian printed media has been launching a fierce attack on almost everything Jewish.
Why would the supposedly-moderate Jordan adopt a strong anti-Semitic agenda?
The answer to this question is simple; Jordan’s oppressed Palestinian majority has been seeking more civil rights in the last few years. Therefore, the Jordanian government has to distract them by igniting anti-Semitic rhetoric.

Is the Leftist Media ‘Fair and Balanced’ on Christian Persecution?
by Raymond Ibrahim:
The leftist media has just provided another blatant example of how they ostracize those who fail to tout their party line. Context: the Washington Post’s On Faith blog posted an article by Elizabeth Tenety dealing with Muslim-Christian relations, in light of recent attacks on Christians in the Muslim world. Regular contributors were invited to respond. The response of one of these, Willis E. Elliott, a retired dean of exploratory programs, New York Seminary, was rejected (Pajamas Media published it here). Up till then, for over three years, Elliott had been publishing almost weekly on that blog; this is his first contribution to be rejected in all that time.
So what was so terrible about it to compel the Washington Post to jettison it? You see, the nonagenarian Elliott called it as he saw it, making black and white — as opposed to postmodern, “there-are-no-truths” — observations. Consider some of his comments on the differences between Christianity and Islam:

Armed robbers have more rights than us, courts would have us believe
By Lorne Gunter:
Canadian officialdom is conducting an all-out assault against self-defence. Few politicians, Crown prosecutors, judges, law professors and police commanders believe ordinary Canadians have any business using force to defend themselves, their loved ones, homes, farms or businesses. It seems every time someone repels a burglar or thief, he ends up in court, too.
[...]
Police are so opposed to citizens defending themselves that even if criminals show up at your rural home, far from a police station, and try to burn it to the ground with you inside, you are considered the criminal if you shoot at them.

I Have a Dream that the Abortion Holocaust Will End
By Kyle-Anne Shiver:
By 1973, I was married to one of God’s truly good men and pregnant with our first child. Six months after Roe was handed down, our son was born. I was a young mother, consumed with the awe of holding my first child, spending hours just studying those little hands and feet and feeling that tiny mouth at my breast. The country was consumed with Viet Nam, the war, the communist threat, the out-of-control youth that rampaged in violence against the violence half a world away. Not many seemed to think that much about Roe or what it might mean or how many innocents would later die at their mothers’ own hands.
If I had known then what I know now, I would have taken to the streets that January of 1973, when America committed herself to a Holocaust of unprecedented proportion. I would have taken my babe in arms and run out to wail and keen and beg good people to listen. I would have invoked the names of Anne Frank and the six million other Jews. I would have run to the arms of every Martin in every church in America. I would have thrown myself upon the mercy of anyone who would listen. Stop! Stop! America, what are you doing?

Glenn Back, by accurately quoting Frances Fox Piven, has gored the Ruling Class ox again
Charlie Martin:
It seems Glenn Back, by accurately quoting Frances Fox Piven, has gored the Ruling Class ox again. Professor Piven wrote, and The Nation published, an article calling for violent, angry protest. In her piece in The Nation, Piven calls for:
An effective movement of the unemployed [that] will have to look something like the strikes and riots that have spread across Greece in response to the austerity measures forced on the Greek government by the European Union,[Emphasis mine.]
Beck and The Blaze have publicized the piece; Piven appears to have become something of a bête noire for Beck. (And yes, there’s no doubt that Beck does obsess about things sometimes.) But he’s neither misattributing the piece, nor taking it out of context; Piven is urging violence as what will be necessary to achieve her ends.
The reaction in the Times? Why obviously, to accuse Beck of fomenting threats against Piven. They quote in particular:

Is Obama Resurrecting Nazi Fascist Economics?
By Kelly O’Connell:
Don’t look now, but Obama again sails into uncharted waters by naming Jefferey Immelt, CEO of General Electric, head of his jobs committee. Imagine, if this was announced by George W, liberals would have screamed like fat kids at diet camp. But the national response is light applause and yawns, proving once again—it’s not what is done, but who does it—that matters to leftists.
Fascinatingly, such collusion between government and big business recalls Nazi fascist economics. Such blurred lines between public and private sectors is the subject of this column.

Alien life deemed impossible by analysis of 500 planets
By Heidi Blake:
Howard Smith, a senior astrophysicist at Harvard, made the claim that we are alone in the universe after an analysis of the 500 planets discovered so far showed all were hostile to life.
Dr Smith said the extreme conditions found so far on planets discovered outside out Solar System are likely to be the norm, and that the hospitable conditions on Earth could be unique.
“We have found that most other planets and solar systems are wildly different from our own. They are very hostile to life as we know it,” he said.
He pointed to stars such as HD10180, which sparked great excitement when it was found to be orbited by a planet of similar size and appearance to Earth.
But the similarities turned out to be superficial.

The Taming of the Masses
By Jed Gladstein:
One of the most dangerous strategies of the totalitarians in our midst is the deliberate confusion they create around the notion of totalitarianism. Only a fraction of “educated” people know that so-called “right-wing” fascists and “left-wing” socialists historically occupy the same end of the sociopolitical spectrum. The reason most people don’t know this is because for eighty years, the “left” has engaged in a campaign to disguise the fact that it is fundamentally a totalitarian movement.

State of the Unborn
The National Catholic Register:
The state of the unborn is not strong.
If you were an unborn baby, and if you were aware of all your “options,” you might think of them in these terms:
“I could have a nice life in here for the next nine months. This is what Mommy went through once, a long time ago, and now she’s bringing me into the world. I hope I can have a baby of my own some day.”
Or: “My life could end in any number of ways. If I don’t die naturally, I could be pulled out with a vacuum device. I could be torn apart with surgical instruments. I could be scalded to death with a saline solution. I could be allowed to proceed down the birth canal and have my brains sucked out before I’m allowed to be fully born.”
“If my mother doesn’t know for sure that I’m here, and she’s afraid she might be pregnant, she could take a large dose of birth control pills and make it extremely difficult for me to settle in. Then I’d just starve to death, mostly unnoticed.”
“The doctor did a test on me, and they think there’s something wrong. My parents say they don’t want to put me through ‘suffering’ in life, so they’re going to end it now.”
“I’m a girl. They wanted a boy.”
If you were conceived in a Petri dish, you would have other options:

Who is funding Israel’s peaceniks?
George Jonas:
Allegations have surfaced this month about left-wing non-governmental organizations in Israel receiving support from Arab, perhaps terrorist, sources. (That’s more serious than overseas support for controversial mosques in Toronto or New York City.) This month, Israel’s parliament has been debating setting up a committee to look into the matter. The explosive question, raised in the Knesset by a right-wing party in the governing coalition, Yisrael Beiteinu (“Israel Is Our Home”), has sharply divided public opinion.
There are both Jewish-run and Arab-run human-rights advocacy groups in Israel. Some NGOs are post-Zionist, and most could be described as doves — though pigeons would describe some better. (It’s slang for dupes, in case you wonder.)

China’s coming fall
Lawrence Solomon:
The Chinese economy today parallels that of the latter-day Soviet Union — immense accomplishments co-existing with immense failures. In some ways, China’s stability today is more precarious than was the Soviet Union’s before its fall. China’s poor are poorer than the Soviet Union’s poor, and they are much more numerous — about one billion in a country of 1.3 billion. Moreover, in the Soviet Union there was no sizeable middle class — just about everyone was poor and shared in the same hardships, avoiding resentments that might otherwise have arisen.
In China, the resentments are palpable. Many of the 300 million people who have risen out of poverty flaunt their new wealth, often egregiously so. This is especially so with the new class of rich, all but non-existent just a few years ago, which now includes some 500,000 millionaires and 200 billionaires. Worse, the gap between rich and poor has been increasing. Ominously, the bottom billion views as illegitimate the wealth of the top 300 million.
How did so many become so rich so quickly? For the most part, through corruption.

DAILY MAIL [UK]:
Whatever the United Nations is associated with is good — it is heresy to question any of its activities. The EU is also a good thing, but not quite as good as the UN. Soaking the rich is good, despite well-founded economic arguments that the more you tax, the less you get. And Government spending is a good thing, although most BBC people prefer to call it investment, in line with New Labour’s terminology.
All green and environmental groups are very good things. Al Gore is a saint. George Bush was a bad thing, and thick into the bargain. Obama was not just the Democratic Party’s candidate for the White House, he was the BBC’s. Blair was good, Brown bad, but the BBC has now lost interest in both.
Trade unions are mostly good things, especially when they are fighting BBC managers. Quangos are also mostly good, and the reports they produce are usually handled uncritically. The Royal Family is a bore. Islam must not be offended at any price, although Christians are fair game because they do nothing about it if they are offended.
