DAILY MAIL [UK]:

Whatever the United Nations is associated with is good — it is heresy to question any of its activities. The EU is also a good thing, but not quite as good as the UN. Soaking the rich is good, despite well-founded economic arguments that the more you tax, the less you get. And Government spending is a good thing, although most BBC people prefer to call it investment, in line with New Labour’s terminology.

All green and environmental groups are very good things. Al Gore is a saint. George Bush was a bad thing, and thick into the bargain. Obama was not just the Democratic Party’s candidate for the White House, he was the BBC’s. Blair was good, Brown bad, but the BBC has now lost interest in both.

Trade unions are mostly good things, especially when they are fighting BBC managers. Quangos are also mostly good, and the reports they produce are usually handled uncritically. The Royal Family is a bore. Islam must not be offended at any price, although Christians are fair game because they do nothing about it if they are offended.

Militant Islam in Norway

By Candace de Russy:

Educating Muslims in Norway does not assimilation make, writes Hege Storhaug.

In 2010, the organization Islam Net at Oslo University College was a vipers’ nest among the various Islamist groups trumpeting their odious message across the entire country:

Judge John Roll Was a Hero: Why Didn’t We Know This?

Sandy Rios:

Could it be the heroes of this story have been chosen and that Judge Roll doesn’t fit the template? Appointed by President George H.W. Bush, could it be that Judge Roll’s act of courage was seen to diminish or interfere with the aggrandizement of a Democratic Congresswoman from her tragic shooting? Could it be that in an attempt to trade on her tragic circumstances, the report of a heroic Republican Judge would be inconvenient?

State Dept. v. Mom & Pop

By MICHAEL A. WALSH:

Lost in the wake of the horrific shootings in Tuc son was a modest battle in the culture war: The State Department quietly decreed that some passport applications would henceforth be gender neutral. No more “mother” and “father”; such terms were apparently too retro, too judgmental for the Foggy Bottom bonzes. Instead, Parent One and Parent Two would do just fine.

O Brave New World, that has such bureaucrats in it.

A backlash quickly ensued, so Secretary of State Hillary Clinton backed away (some), ordering that the terms “mother” and “father” could peacefully coexist with the new “parent” designations on the forms used by American citizens abroad to obtain passports for new babies. But the camel’s nose is now under the tent.

Worshiping Moloch

By William J. Murray:

Moloch was one of many pagan gods worshiped by means of human sacrifice. Pagans who worshiped Moloch often sacrificed one of their own children, who was ritually murdered and then placed in a sacrificial altar of fire. The sacrifice of the child was to assure a blessing of prosperity for the family. Some followed the Canaanite practice of placing under the front doorstep of the family home the bones that remained after the burning of the child.

In short, a child was murdered for the promised convenience and prosperity the family was to receive from Moloch. This sounds barbaric to those of us living in the 21st century. It seems barbaric until it is realized that since the Roe v. Wade decision, nearly 50 million babies have been murdered legally in the United States for the convenience or prosperity of their mothers and other family members. Abortion has the same intended outcome of personal and family prosperity as did the sacrifice of a child at the altar of Moloch.

Cohen’s Tirade of Hate

by Rick Moran, FrontPage:

Little more than a week after President Barack Obama entreated the country to make a new commitment to civility in discourse, the president’s party has returned to its vitriolic ways. In a statement that has generated stern disapproval from the Jewish community, and utter silence from the Left, Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN) stood in the well of the House of Representatives early Wednesday morning and compared his opponents to Nazis and their cause to the Holocaust. One can’t help from wondering: Is this what our president had in mind when he said that we should make sure “that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not in a way that wounds”?

Blogs for Choice?

Abortion means killing a baby. That is why Christians are against it. That is why I am against it. It is murder. Blogs for Choice would tell you the baby is merely a clump of cells with no sentience. How would they know? They don’t. But they want you to believe it. That way the slaughter can go on.

Don’t believe what logic refutes.

Here is a baby safe in its mother’s womb …

Safe that is, until the lie is accepted as truth.

Rush talks Obama’s missing birth certificate

by therightscoop:

Rush spent nearly his entire first segment talking about a story he’s been sitting on all week. He say she wanted to see what happened to it before he weighed in on it. I’ve gotten emails on it myself but I’ve pretty much ignored it. The story is the case of Obama’s missing birth certificate.

The new Hawaii Governor, who vowed to end this birth certificate conspiracy, now claims that he can’t find it in the archives. There’s only a notation that it exists, but no actual birth certificate. Rush says that something is certainly not right about this story, but he believes that it may just be more trickery to get the birthers all worked up.

In the segment following this one (which is not included in the video), he made the point that they have someone on record in 2008 vouching for Obama, saying that they actually saw it. And now the Hawaii Governor can’t find it? He warns of deception and trickery here.

Obama Admin Lobbying Honduras To Allow Zelaya Back In? Are You Kidding?

by Alberto de la Cruz:

On the last day of December last year, Manuel “Mel” Zelaya, the deposed Honduran president and self-described victim of high-frequency radiation attacks by Israeli mercenaries, vowed to the press that he would return to Honduras. Few outside of Honduras have paid much attention to Zelaya’s MacArthur-esque prediction, but it has become apparent there is more behind his declaration than his usual hyperbole and bombastic absurdities.

Behind the scenes in the Obama administration there appears to be a concerted effort to pressure the democratically elected government of President Porfirio Lobo to dismiss charges of misappropriation of government funds and falsifying documents that are pending against Zelaya. This would open the door for his return to the country, and would be certain to undermine the delicate process of reestablishing democracy and order that is currently taking place in this poor and beleaguered nation.

[...]

Why do you think they hung Mao ornaments on the White House Christmas tree? They’re communists, that’s why … and so is Zelaya.  And why do you think they stiffed Netanyahu at the White House?  Because communists are anti-semites … like Zelaya appears to be and which his whacko ‘Israeli mercenaries’ paranoia suggests.

Human Rights Rogues Are UN-fit to Serve

By Hillel Neuer:

Why does the United Nations’ Human Rights Council turn a blind eye to systematic repression in countries such as Cuba, Iran and Zimbabwe? Here’s one reason: Its Advisory Committee, meeting this week in Geneva, is dominated by apologists for the world’s worst dictators.

The Obama administration is rightly calling to abolish this body of 18 advisers. It’s time for other UN stakeholders to do the same.

British Pol Echoes CAIR Talking Point About Islamists

Jonathan S. Tobin:

Those wondering just how far gone Britain is on the question of the influence of Islamism got another shock this week when Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, the co-chair of the Conservative Party and a minister without portfolio in Prime Minister David Cameron’s cabinet, asserted that Islamophobia has gone mainstream there. But rather than merely issuing a call for more tolerance, Warsi’s speech last night at the University of Leicester sought to cast aspersions not only on those who espouse religious prejudice but also on those who have differentiated between moderate peaceful Muslims and radical Islamists.

The speech, which has caused quite a stir in the United Kingdom, contains this curious formulation: “The notion that all followers of Islam can be described either as ‘moderate’ or ‘extremist’ can fuel misunderstanding and intolerance.” She goes on to complain that the designation of some Muslims as moderate is inherently invidious.

The admirable Melanie Phillips analyzes Warsi’s illogical thesis this way:

Hamas and Fatah Take Their War to Hospitals

by Khaled Abu Toameh:

Palestinian patients in the Gaza Strip have become the latest victims of the ongoing power struggle between the two Palestinian governments of Fatah and Hamas.

Until recently, the two governments used to blame Israel for the shortage of various types of medicine in the Gaza Strip: spokesmen for the Hamas and Fatah governments claimed that the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip was depriving the ill of many badly-needed medicines.

This week, the two rival Palestinian governments held each other — not Israel — responsible for the health crisis in the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian government in the West Bank, headed by Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, announced that Hamas had been stealing or hiding most of the medicine that was sent to the Gaza Strip. Many Palestinians are believed to have died because of the lack of drugs and medical equipment.

According to the Fayyad government, Hamas militiamen have been confiscating shipments of medical supplies donated by the international communities and later offering the medical supplies for sale.

Video: Whatever happened to the anti-war movement?

by Ed Morrissey:

Remember when opponents of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq used to hold massive rallies with lots of media attention, and newspapers like the New York Times warned that the 1960s may be returning? That turned out to be a short decade. Reason TV’s Ted Balaker and Zach Weissmueller look at the sudden dissipation of the anti-war movement, which in reality was a proxy fight in a much different battle:
