Proof: New Records Show DOJ Lied About New Black Panther Dismissal

by J. Christian Adams:

Judicial Watch made an explosive announcement today about the Justice Department’s stonewalling in the New Black Panther voter intimidation case dismissal. Forced to bring a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit after DOJ rebuffed its public records request (so much for transparency), Judicial Watch obtained a privilege log from the DOJ last week.

It shows — in a rather dramatic way — that the DOJ has been untruthful about who was involved in the dismissal of the case.

A Badge of Muslim Courage: Raheel Raza

by Jamie Glazov, FrontPage:

Frontpage Interview’s guest today is Raheel Raza, a leading Muslim reformer, award winning writer, professional speaker, diversity consultant, documentary film maker and interfaith advocate. A founding member of the Muslim Canadian Congress, she is the author of Their Jihad . . . Not My Jihad. Visit her site at RaheelRaza.com.

FP: Raheel Raza, welcome to Frontpage Interview.

I would like to talk to you today about the courageous battle you have been fighting, as a Muslim, on the frontlines of our battle against radical Islam. Your pronouncements against the Ground Zero Mosque and your collision with Tariq Ramadan are the recent examples of your noble stand for justice and freedom.

Let’s start with your battle against the Ground Zero mosque and also the threat you received from Ground Zero mosque developer Sharif El Gamal after your meeting with the organizers of the mosque in New York.

Raza: Thanks Jamie.

It’s been almost a month since my article was published in the Ottawa Citizen regarding the proposed mosque at Ground Zero, which was followed by my trip to New York to attend a meeting of the organizers of the mosque and then the follow up — which has been good, bad and ugly.

Defaming Israel

by Joseph Puder, FrontPage:

Karl Vick’s report in Time magazine entitled Why Israel Doesn’t Care About Peace was driven by his own ideological bent toward Israel and the issue of Middle East peace; one that he clearly shares with the editorial board of Time magazine. The article’s validity was additionally compromised by the imbalance of those individuals the author chose to interview and the accompanying pictures.

In his article, Vick cited a recent poll that asked respondents to name “the most urgent problem facing Israel.” He did this in order to demonstrate that Israelis are not concerned with peace and are instead, more preoccupied with education, crime, national security and poverty. Yet he missed several points. The most obvious is that Israelis have always listed peace with the Arabs as their top concern. When, however, Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza and abandoned settlements in Samaria only to be repeatedly rocketed by Hamas, it became clear that peace is simply a pipe-dream. You simply cannot have a one-sided peace.

Israel’s Allies in 1948; The USSR, Czechoslovakia, American Mainline Churches and the Left

By Dr. Norman Berdichevsky:

The nearly universal belief, never challenged by the media, is that the United States was wholly or largely and “morally” responsible for fully supporting Israel on the ground from the very beginning of its independence in May, 1948. The world has been inundated with a tsunami of Arab propaganda and crocodile tears shed for the “Palestinians” who have reveled in what they refer to as their Catastrophe or Holocaust (“Nabka” in Arabic).

At the U.N. Obama Promotes Human Wrongs Against Israel Instead of Human Rights

By Anne Bayefsky:

Wednesday in Geneva during the current session of the U.N. Human Rights Council, the Obama administration became a willing participant in the U.N.’s imposition of an apartheid-style ban on representatives of the state of Israel. Despite the promises made by the administration that by joining the Council the United States would not become part of the problem, U.S. Ambassador to the Council Eileen Donahoe chose to attend and fully participate in a meeting that deliberately excluded anyone representing the Jewish state.

Israel is the only U.N. state not permitted to be a full member of any of the U.N.’s five regional groups. Throughout the Human Rights Council sessions, these groups hold key planning meetings in which countries negotiate and share important information behind closed doors. Even the Palestinian Authority, though not a state, is permitted into the Asian regional group.

Climatism: Redoubling Misguided Efforts

By Steve Goreham:

Climatism, the theory that man-made greenhouse gases are destroying Earth’s climate, is increasingly in doubt. It appears that the world jumped to conclusions in 1992 at the Rio de Janiero Earth Summit, when 41 nations signed a treaty pledging to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For the last eighteen years, political leaders have been arguing about how much to reduce such emissions. But more and more science shows our climate to be dominated by natural cycles of Earth, driven by solar activity. Man-made carbon dioxide emissions play only an insignificant role in global warming.

The Disappearing Middle Class

By Jeremy Meister:

In the clutter of arguments over Ground Zero mosques, conservative-versus-RINO primaries, and whether or not we should push more “stimulus” through Congress, another problem is going on very quietly in Flyover Country. The middle class in America seems to be disappearing, and there is no mystery as to why.

Karl Marx hated the middle class, or the “bourgeoisie,” as he called them. His Communist Manifesto is nothing more than a rant about the evils of this group and how they have inflicted harm and damage to everyone around them through colonialism and ingenuity.

Massive, nationwide vote fraud is the among the most rotten fruit of ACORN-type activism

Since passage in 1993 of the National Voter Registration Act – aka “Motor Voter” – by the Democratic Congress that led to the 1994 GOP takeover, ACORN and a bunch of other radical liberal activists groups, many financed by George Soros, have been steadily growing their ability to increase vote counts for their candidates by stuffing ballot boxes with illegal votes on election day.

Who are the Palestinians?

Moshe Dann:

Prime Minister Netanyahu has called upon Palestinian leaders to recognize the right of the Jewish people to national self-determination – “two states for two nations.” But are Palestinian Arabs a nation, or a people? What is “Palestinian national identity” based on? Although taken for granted today, Palestinianism has neither a long, nor distinguished history, which may explain why the peace process between Israel and the Arabs has failed and will continue to fail.

Palestinianism, inherently meant only one thing: the rejection of a Jewish state in any form. A few elite Arab intellectuals did talk about Palestinianism, but it was not widely accepted. As Columbia University Professor Rashid Khalidi shows in his book on the subject, not until Zionists began settlements did local Arabs seek an alternative.

Focused on opposition to Zionists, rather than a positive self-definition, “Palestinian identity” then, as now, was negative. Palestinian leaders, like the mufti of Jerusalem, Hajj Amin al-Husayni, an ardent supporter of the Nazis, and arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat – “fathers” of Palestinianism – rejected Zionism and promoted terrorism.

Mao’s Great Leap Forward ‘killed 45 million in four years’

By Arifa Akbar:

Mao Zedong, founder of the People’s Republic of China, qualifies as the greatest mass murderer in world history, an expert who had unprecedented access to official Communist Party archives said yesterday.

Speaking at The Independent Woodstock Literary Festival, Frank Dikötter, a Hong Kong-based historian, said he found that during the time that Mao was enforcing the Great Leap Forward in 1958, in an effort to catch up with the economy of the Western world, he was responsible for overseeing “one of the worst catastrophes the world has ever known”.

[...]

Obamatron Anita Dunn said Mao was “one of the two people that I turn to most” to an audience of high school kids.  And don’t forget that a Mao Christmas tree ornament was hung on the WH ‘Holiday Tree’ last year.  Isn’t is just dandy that these creeps are running the U.S. right now?  Just wonderful …

Global warming is dead. Long live, er, ‘Global climate disruption’!

By James Delingpole:

President Obama’s Science Czar John Holdren is worried about global warming. Having noticed that there hasn’t actually been any global warming since 1998, he feels it ought to be called “global climate disruption” instead. That way whether it gets warmer or colder, wetter or drier, less climatically eventful or more climatically eventful, the result will be the same: it can all be put down to “global climate disruption.”

And that will be good, because it will give Holdren the excuse to introduce all the draconian measures he has long believed necessary if “global climate disruption” is to be averted: viz, state-enforced population control; a rewriting of the legal code so that trees are able to sue people; and the wholesale destruction of the US economy (“de-development” as he put it in the 1973 eco-fascist textbook he co-wrote Paul and Anne Ehrlich Human Ecology: Global Problems And Solutions).

Union Bosses Blow Pension Funds on Politicians – Now Want Government Bailout

By Jerry McConnell:

The election cycles of 2006 and 2008 cost the labor unions many, many millions of dollars to get all those liberal Democrats elected and reelected to Congress and the presidency.

Where did those bribe bucks come from? Were they in some union slush fund? Do you suppose that all those bribes came out of the pension fund money that the suckers, er, members paid into for retirement benefits? It is becoming common knowledge that the various union pension funds may not be there when Joe or Jane ‘lunch pail’ retires.

That is why the union bosses are banging on the doors of all of the liberal Democrats’ looking for payback; payback in the form of “stimulus” or “bailout” tax dollars for getting them elected plus unfair legislation that would take away the secret ballot when union strong-arm tactics are needed to increase membership numbers.

The Problem of Honor Killings

By Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi:

A recent report by Robert Fisk in the Independent on the subject of honor killings throughout the world should highlight the need to address the prevalence of this barbaric custom.

Fisk notes that many women’s rights groups suspect that the number of victims of honor killings may be four times higher than the UN’s “latest world figure of around 5000 deaths a year.” Meanwhile, “Amnesty International and news archives suggest that the slaughter of the innocent for “dishonouring” their families is increasing by the year.” Moreover, whilst the practice is known to occur amongst Hindus and Sikhs in South Asia and the West, as well as amongst Christians and other minorities in the Middle East, it is still largely confined to Muslim communities in countries such as Iraq, Jordan, Pakistan and Turkey. However, the custom may be equally widespread in Egypt and the Gulf states, where media freedom on the issue is much more restricted.

O’Donnell to summit: ‘We’re not taking our country back, we are our country’

By Shane D’Aprile:

Delaware’s Republican Senate nominee may not be as fiery on the stump as some of her Tea Party-backed counterparts, but Christine O’Donnell succeeded in bringing the crowd at the Family Research Council’s Value Voters Summit to its feet Friday.

It was obviously a friendly audience and O’Donnell appeared at ease, despite delivering a speech that she likely had little time to practice. If you believe Democratic candidate Chris Coons and national Dems when they say they’re not taking anything for granted in this race, O’Donnell might have just shown why.

Speaking to a packed ballroom of social conservatives activists, O’Donnell took some clear shots at the left, like this one — “They’ll buy your daughter an abortion, but they won’t let her buy a sugary soda in a school vending machine.”

The perils of diplomatic theater

By CAROLINE B. GLICK:

The current flurry of diplomatic activity is deeply disturbing. It isn’t simply that the Obama administration has strong-armed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu into participating in diplomatic theater with the PLO whose successful completion will leave Israel weaker and less defensible. It isn’t merely that the newest “peace process” diverts our leadership’s attention away from Iran and its nuclear weapons program.

The most disturbing aspect of the latest round of the diplomatic kabuki is that Israel’s leaders and Israel’s staunch friends in the US are enthusiastically participating in this dangerous project.

True, Netanyahu is in an unenviable position, situated as he is between US President Barack Obama’s rock and hard place. Instead of standing up to this hostile American leader, Netanyahu is desperately seeking a magical concession to get Obama off his back.

Leftist Professors and Double Standards

by Jamie Glazov, FrontPage:

Frontpage Interview’s guest today is Dr. Fred Gottheil, a professor of Economics at the University of Illinois.

FP: Dr. Fred Gottheil, welcome to Frontpage Interview.

I would like to discuss with you today a recent experiment you did — The Statement of Concern — which exposed the hypocrisy of leftist academics who pretend they care about women’s rights and the rights of gays and lesbians.

Tell us about the Statement of Concern, what motivated you to do it and what its results have been.

Gotteil: My “Statement of Concern” came about more by accident than by design. I was searching for someone or some subject on Google.com — can’t remember exactly — when I chanced upon multiple listings of Professor David Lloyd’s anti-Israel petition. That was in early January, 2009, just after the Gaza war. Lloyd’s petition, addressed to incoming President Obama, asked for a US abandonment of Israel. His four-page argument read as if it were written by Ahmadinejad himself. Of course, that wasn’t really interesting, considering the source. But it was the lead-in heading on so many of these petition-carrying sites that drew my attention. It read something like “900 Academics Sign Petition Against Israel …” I became more curious about who these 900 academics were than about the substance of the petition and found myself going carefully through the list of those 900. Did I recognize any? Indeed I did. Six were on faculty at the University of Illinois and one actually affiliated with its Jewish Studies Program! A few more were “the usual suspects” types but I couldn’t help but wonder who the others were and why they would sign onto such a distorted account of Israel.

Sham Mideast Peace Talks: What It Really Means When They Say ‘Contiguous’

by P. David Hornik:

This week the Israeli-Palestinian talks moved from Sharm el-Sheikh in Sinai to Jerusalem, with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Middle East envoy George Mitchell accompanying and participating.

Mitchell, asked in a press conference about the U.S. position on Israel’s calling on the Palestinian Authority to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, replied:

We have said many times that our vision is for a two-state solution that includes a Jewish, democratic state of Israel living side by side in peace and security with a viable, independent, sovereign, and contiguous state of Palestine. … But of course, this is one of many sensitive issues that the parties will need to resolve themselves.

Apart from Mitchell’s refusal to take a stand on the issue — after having stated quite unequivocally that Israel should cave to the Palestinians’ demand to extend Israel’s settlement moratorium after September 26 — what stands out in the quote’s otherwise familiar verbiage is the word “contiguous.”

In this week’s edition: reports from Indonesia, Pakistan, India and
Turkmenistan.

***********************************

1. Congregation attacked again in Bekasi, Indonesia

Members of the Batak Christian Protestant Filadelfia Church in Bekasi,
Indonesia were attacked by a group of eight unknown assailants during
a worship service on September 11. An elder, Asia Sihombing, was
stabbed in the stomach. When Reverend Luspida Simanjuntak tried to
come to his assistance, she was beaten with a stick and injured on her
face, head and back. At last report, both of the believers were
recovering in a local hospital.

In August, the congregation was victim to a similar attack by Muslim
militants opposed to the members holding worship services on a
church-owned plot of land (see

http://www.persecution.net/id-2010-08-12.htm

for more information). Reverend Luspida, however, insisted that they
had a right to worship in the open and said that she would continue
her mission without fear despite growing threats against Christians.
The recent violence has intensified fears among Christians, human
rights activists and many other Indonesians over the decline of
religious freedom in the country. (Sources: AsiaNews, Jakarta Globe)

Pray for healing for Asia and Reverend Luspida. Pray that the
assailants will be apprehended. Ask God to give these church members
boldness and wisdom as they face difficult challenges because of their
faith (Psalm 91, Isaiah 26:3).

2. Christian woman forced into slavery in Pakistan

A group of Muslims recently abducted Sana, a Christian mother of two,
in Fatehpuh Kasur, Pakistan. Ejaz Masih, Sana’s husband who works as a
labourer, took out a loan in order to provide medical treatment for
his ill father. When his Muslim landlord heard about the loan, he
demanded that Ejaz repay it within two weeks, saying, “We’ll come and
take your wife and children to work for us as slaves. You have no
choice …. You are lowlife and will always be our slave. We
Muslims are superior to any other religion.” A few days later, on
September 3, a group of armed Muslims confronted the family, throwing
Ejaz to the ground, abducting his wife and beating his father. When
his mother called for help, neighbours came out but no one tried to
stop the kidnappers. His brother contacted police but they refused to
register the complaint. (Source: AsiaNews)

Pray for Sana’s release. Pray for wisdom and comfort for her family.
Ask God to help them to respond in a Christ-like manner to this
injustice. Pray that Christians in Pakistan will exemplify the love of
God through consistent love and prayer for those who persecute them
(Matthew 5:43-48).

3. Five Christians arrested in India

A church was recently attacked and five Christians arrested in
Patagunta village, Andhra Pradesh, India. On September 5, Hindu
militants destroyed a local building being used for worship. The
following day, the militants filed a case against two pastors and
three believers belonging to the church, alleging that the Christians
had destroyed local temples and Hindu idols. The police then took all
five believers into custody. (Source: All India Christian Council)

Pray for the immediate release of these believers. Pray that they will
have opportunity to boldly proclaim their faith, even in chains. Pray
that, like Paul, those behind this injustice will repent of their
actions and come to embrace Christ as Lord and Saviour.

4. Update: Family concerned for health of imprisoned Turkmen pastor

Pastor Nurliev (45), who leads Light to the World Church in Mary,
Turkmenistan, was arrested on August 27 on charges of large-scale
swindling, which carry a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment
and confiscation of property (see

http://www.persecution.net/tm-2010-09-02.htm

). His wife, Maya, and other church members continue to insist the
allegations are false and that police pressured three people into
writing fabricated statements against him. “He is innocent of the
accusations against him and I want him back home. All this is being
done because of his faith,” Maya said. She has been denied access to
her husband since his arrest. The last she heard was that he was being
held in a small, overcrowded and smoky cell. She is seriously
concerned for his health in these conditions, as he suffers from
diabetes which could worsen if he does not receive his regular medical
treatment. (Source: Forum18)

Pray for strength of health for Pastor Nurliev. Pray that he will be
released. Pray that Maya and her family will trust in God’s provision
and care in this difficult time. You can post a prayer for Pastor
Nurliev and his family on our Persecuted Church Prayer Wall at

Media Climate Change Bias; Only Melting Ice Makes News

By Dr. Tim Ball:

Figure 1 shows the extent of Antarctic sea ice for 2010 up to September 10. Ice extent has been about 1 million square kilometers above the 1979 – 2000 average. Notice the 2009 ice amount was above average as well. This matches reports of record cold temperatures around the Southern Hemisphere. On July 27, 2010 we learned from Peru, “Temperatures plummeted to below -20°C prompting the government to declare a state of emergency for nearly half of the country Friday.”- Source

From Argentina, “Local newspapers reported that the temperature plunged to -1.5°C in Buenos Aires, on Friday—making it the coolest day in a decade for the capital. Even the beaches saw white powder. The coastal resort city Mar del Plata was blanketed by snow for two days straight.

One report with the headline “South American winter starts with a severe cold snap” reports, “Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil are also experiencing the cold snap, which has killed millions of fish and an untold number of livestock.”

While the mainstream media ignore cold and recent changes in sea ice, it’s a good time to give an overview of different ice conditions. Melting ice has two attractions for global alarmists. It is supposedly a sign of warmer temperatures and it plays to people’s unjustified fears about rising sea levels. This is why it was a central part of Gore’s movie, “An Inconvenient Truth.”

The Chavez threat

By John R. Bolton:

Venezuela’s Sept. 26 national parliamentary elections present a major opportunity for strongman Hugo Chavez to cement his grip on power. Despite a tradition of a free press and competitive politics, a cosmopolitan elite and extensive natural resources, Venezuela is increasingly a case study in how to lose political and economic freedom.

The stakes are especially high in light of evidence consistent with an emerging Venezuelan nuclear weapons program. Ironically, Chavez’s frequently clownish behavior protects him, camouflaging the seriousness of his potential threat to U.S. security and to democratic societies throughout Latin America.

Identifying Palestinian Anti-Semitism Is Itself Racist?

By Richard L. Cravatts:

No sooner had a three-day conference on contemporary anti-Semitism at Yale University ended than voices of disapproval arose over a perceived bias and even latent racism of the event. Sponsored by the Yale Initiative for the Interdisciplinary Study of Antisemitism (YIISA) and bringing together some 110 scholars to present papers relevant to the theme of “Global Antisemitism: A Crisis of Modernity,” the conference had as its seemingly benign and productive objective a furtherance of the initiative’s primary role of identifying and seeking to explain current manifestations of the world’s oldest hatred.
