Jews killed where Obama demanded removal of checkpoints

By Aaron Klein:

Today’s deadly terror attack that killed four people took place on a road where the Israeli government removed staffed anti-terror checkpoints in line with requests from the Obama administration, WND has learned.

As President Obama was preparing for a Washington summit with the Israeli and Palestinian leaders, Palestinian terrorists today carried out a shooting attack, killing two Jewish men and two women, one of whom was pregnant.

The attack took place in the West Bank just south of the entrance to Kiryat Arba, near the historic biblical city of Hebron.

Israeli security officials say the terrorist shooting was a coordinated ambush.

Israel braces for difficult month

The Washington Times:

As Israeli and Palestinian negotiators prepare for the first direct negotiations since 2008, the Jewish state is braced for one of the most difficult diplomatic months in its history.

One Israeli diplomat called next month “Black September,” the same name Palestinians used to describe the bloody crackdown against them by Jordan’s King Hussein in 1970, and also the name for the infamous Palestinian terrorist group that killed 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics in Munich.

The diplomatic calendar from an Israeli perspective for September is filled with political land mines.

Inside the Orlando mosque

POWERLINE:

The video below is an investigative report on the the June 2009 fundraiser for Hamas held at Masjid Al-Rahman mosque in Orlando, Florida. Featuring “that tool” George Galloway, the fundraiser was intended to raise money for Galloway’s Viva Palestina, then funneling money openly to the Islamist terrorist movement of Hamas in Gaza.

Big Peace comments that the video also serves as a backgrounder on the Muslim Brotherhood front groups in the United States including the Muslim American Society and the Islamic Society of North America, both unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation prosecution. To this list I would add the North American Islamic Trust, which holds the title to many such mosques.

Patrick Poole asks where the feds are now. Let’s go to the tape.

White House Suppresses Evidence That Abstinence Education Unites Parents and Teens

By Elena Ives:

A recent study has found that abstinence education revitalizes the role of Mom and Dad in shaping the values of our youth. That’s what you’d think, wouldn’t you? Well, for some reason the Obama administration doesn’t want you to know about it.

AZ Border Sheriff: ‘I Have About As Much Regard for the U.N. as I Do the Vermin’

CNSNews.com:

Sheriff Larry Dever, whose officers patrol Cochise County along the border between Arizona and Mexico, said he finds it “amazing” that the U.S. State Department would refer the recently passed immigration law in his state to the United Nations Human Rights Council for review.

“Well, it’s just amazing to me,” Dever told CNSNews.com. “Course, I have about as much regard for the U.N. as I do the vermin that hides in the rocks around my house here and reaches out and tries to bite me every now and then.”

4 Israelis killed in terrorist attack – one victim pregnant

Ynet:

Lethal terror attack on eve of peace talks : Four Israelis were murdered Tuesday evening after the vehicle they were traveling in was ambushed by terrorists in the Hebron region.

At least some of the victims, who are all residents of Beit Hagai, are members of the same family. Ambulance service officials said the victims include two men aged about 25 and 40, as well as two women of roughly the same ages, one of them pregnant.

Barack Obama has bowed before the UN

By Nile Gardiner:

There can be few sights more humiliating for the American people than that of a US president kowtowing to a foreign leader or to supranational institutions. Continental Europeans are used to this sort of thing after decades of dominance by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels, and have grudgingly accepted over time the gradual and undemocratic erosion of their freedoms. But most Americans fiercely defend their national sovereignty, and find the idea of giving international organisations a say over their laws and lives completely unacceptable.

The Obama administration however has submitted a report to the UN Commissioner on Human Rights, South African judge Navanethem Pillay, which makes direct reference to a popular Arizona immigration law aimed at tackling illegal immigration, which is fiercely opposed by the White House, and is the subject of legal action by the Justice Department.

Oilsands boycott by U.S. giants deserves similar response from Canadians

Ezra Levant:

Walgreens is the largest pharmacy chain in the U.S.

It’s also corrupt.

For years, they secretly altered their customers’ prescriptions, without their doctor’s knowledge, in a giant insurance scam across 42 states. They targeted Medicaid, the program for low-income Americans. So they were stealing from taxpayers and the poor at the same time. That kind of big thinking is why Walgreens is number one.

Walgreens replaced inexpensive drugs with drugs that were up to four times more costly. Only when an honest pharmacist finally blew the whistle on them were they stopped — and fined a whopping $35 million.

Are you ready to take moral lessons from Walgreens? Because they’ve just announced that they’re switching their trucks to fuel that doesn’t come from Canada’s oilsands — as an ethical statement.

Taking ethical guidance from Walgreens is sort of like taking abstinence lessons from Hugh Hefner.

I’d call for a boycott of Walgreens, but they don’t have any stores in Canada (and, despite their name, they are no relation to Walmart).

But Walgreens isn’t the only moral hypocrite to come out against Canada. So did The Gap, which also owns Banana Republic and Old Navy.

Do yourself a favour: Don’t buy their clothes.

This applies especially to Albertans, whose jobs depend on the oilsands. There are 26 Gaps, Old Navys and Banana Republics in Alberta. Boycott them.

Obama Urges Court to Vacate AGW Decision. I Smell a Rat (or Two!)

by Marlo Lewis:

Last week, in a brief filed on behalf of six large electric power producers, the Obama administration urged the Supreme Court to vacate an appeals court decision (State of Connecticut et al. v. American Electric Power et al.) that would allow states and other parties to sue coal-burning electric utilities for their alleged contribution to global warming-related “injuries.”

The brief clearly lays out the absurdities of attempting to regulate greenhouse gases via public nuisance litigation. Yet the brief stops short of reaching the obvious conclusion implied by its argument, namely that climate policy is a “non-justiciable political question.” Instead, it advises the Supreme Court to direct the court of appeals to reassess its decision on “prudential” grounds.

I smell a rat. The administration, I suspect, does not want the Court to rule that the political question doctrine precludes tort litigation against CO2-emitters, because it wants the only solid, durable shield for industry to be the EPA’s “displacement” of common-law injury claims via the agency’s endangerment rule and ensuing regulatory cascade under the Clean Air Act (CAA).

In other words, just as the administration used the endangerment rule to try and spook Congress and industry into supporting cap and trade, it is now using CO2 tort litigation to try and spook them into supporting — or at least not aggressively attacking — EPA regulation of greenhouse gases via the Clean Air Act.

Carbon Dioxide Riches Disappear

By Alan Caruba:

The headlines report the way the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has been lying and some, myself included, are calling for an end to this snakes’ nest of global deception.

I keep waiting for some environmental group to announce that the Earth is running out of oxygen. It’s the kind of huge lie that environmentalists of every description engage in. There’s plenty of oxygen and, despite the latest lies about carbon dioxide (CO2), the great oceans of the world are not turning into reservoirs of acidity. Together these two gases are the basis for all life on Earth.

If you remember nothing else, remember that any reference by anyone to “greenhouse gas emissions” involves the lie that they influence the weather or the world’s climate.

The Lasting Damage Obama Has Done to the Jewish People

By Fred Dardick:

In less than two years as President, under Obama’s watch there has been an outpouring of hatred towards the Jewish people the likes of which I never thought I would live to see.

From Helen Thomas telling the Jews to “get the hell out of Palestine” to heavily armed terrorist flotillas destined for the Gaza Strip described as “peaceful” by the western press, a sea change in world public opinion against the Jewish people has been accomplished during Obama’s short time in office.

They are once again throwing stones at little old ladies leaving synagogue in Sweden, while thousands of Jewish families flee Muslim persecution in France.

This is not a coincidence. It is a direct result of Obama’s refusal to speak out against the virulent anti-Semitism being pushed by left-wing politicians and Islamists around the globe, a failure on Obama’s part that many take as his tacit approval of such actions.

The File Clerks of Racism

By Bruce Walker:

Glenn Beck is a racist, right? That is what self-anointed civil rights leaders are saying. The fact that members of Dr Martin Luther King’s family and other conservative blacks are conspicuous at his rally in Washington means nothing to those trying to slime Beck and other conservatives with the moral crime of racism. What can one do if born into a despised race? There is no remedy for the wrong birth in the grim and shadowy world of racism. Defining moral status by accident of birth is despicable, but using our revulsion for true racism to score cheap rhetorical points or to gain petty advantage spits upon the graves of real victims of racism.

Coming Back To God

By CAROLINE B. GLICK:

As Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu heads to Washington for another stillborn round of talks with Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas hosted by US President Barack Obama, he will probably be preoccupied with one issue.

It won’t be Obama’s demand that Jews be prohibited from building synagogues, schools and homes in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria.

Netanyahu won’t be wondering how long Abbas can keep up with his “Palestinian president” act before his people chase him out of town. Abbas’s term ended in January 2009.

Israel’s elected leader will be thinking about Iran. He will be wondering how the US government will react if he sends the IAF to bomb Iran’s nuclear installations. Will the US permit IAF jets to overfly US-controlled Iraqi airspace? Or will Obama follow the advice of his foreign policy mentor Zbigniew Brzezinski and order the US Air Force to shoot down those jets, abandon the US-Israel alliance and embrace a new role as protector of Iran’s nuclear weapons program? While Netanyahu wonders if the US can be trusted, other Israelis sleep soundly at night knowing that Uncle Sam has their back.

The Left knows that no matter how forcefully its platforms are rejected by the public, the US government will embrace its members and fund its projects. This week in the leadup to the talks, the openly subversive Geneva Initiative has launched a multimillion dollar public relations campaign targeting the public.

Coming Back To God

The View From 1776:

Anyone who has studied the Bible’s Old Testament knows what happens to a people who forget God and come to believe pridefully in their self-sufficiency. The United States has long since reached that dangerous point.

Jeff Lukens’s essay should have been posted before the Glenn Beck rally in D.C. But its message is just as relevant now as before the rally.

Restoring Honor: A New American Awakening?
    By Jeff Lukens

If anything good can be said about the progressive left controlling our government, it’s that their astonishingly brazen and heavy-handed tactics may have aroused the American people into a new spiritual awakening. With basic liberties under assault, we are seeing a revival of values that have been dormant for a long time.

Covering up for George Soros

By Ed Lasky:

The sinister, omnipresent moneybags of the American left, George Soros, knows that distraction and misdirection make for a good defense. So do his many lackeys and sympathizers in the American media.

Recently, the left has built up two conservative billionaire brothers as their latest bogeymen. I am referring to the libertarians Charles and David Koch, who fund, among other groups, Americans for Prosperity. First Barack Obama lambasted them, and his minions in the media dutifully followed. Jane Mayer’s 10,000-word article in the New Yorker, titled “Covert Operations: the billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama,” has been widely cited in other liberal media.

Islam, Islamophobia, Christophobia, and Jew hatred

Eugene Veklerov:

Here is a reality check to keep in mind when someone issues another condemnation of Islamophobia in the Western World. Surely, we have plenty of room for improvement, but we are pikers at the game of religious discrimination.

In many Muslim countries, discrimination against Christians and Jews is not just practiced, it is codified into law.

It’s not irrational or bigoted to expect Canadian Muslims to renounce terror

Lorne Gunter:

I’ll admit to having some sympathy for ordinary Muslims who are pressured to denounce radical Islam each time there is a terror attack or arrest. For the most part, Canadian Muslims mind their own business. They do their jobs, raise their kids, pay their mortgages and worship the god of their choice in peace. They just want to be left alone, like the rest of us.

No one expected every Catholic in Massachusetts to denounce terrorism each time the IRA blew up an office tower in London or a school in Ulster in the 1980s. Perhaps Massachusetts Catholics should have been asked to denounce terrorism more often. After all, North American Catholics — particularly those in the U.S. Northeast — were a significant source of funding for the IRA for decades. But the point is, they weren’t expected to, so why should Muslims?

Religious Freedom and a Mosque

by Bill Warner, FrontPage:

One of the most common arguments of the supporters of the Ground Zero mosque includes religious freedom as guaranteed by the First Amendment. Religion is seen as the framework to support building a mosque and community center near the site of the former World Trade Towers. Is this really about religion? Step back and look at the controversy. Do you feel like you are taking part in a religious exercise or a political fracas?

There is a vast confusion about what a religion is and is not. Currently the operative rule is that anything associated with Islam is a religious affair where all of the freedom of religion is applied to the action or event. Islam’s actions are religious and if you oppose it, you are an un-American bigot.

It is time to stop and take a look at what we mean by a religion. There are about as many Buddhists in America today as there are Muslims. When was the last time you remember a Buddhist demand of any kind? Do Buddhists set up councils to shape the textbooks and demand Buddhist finance? Does the government make a big announcement when Buddhists are appointed to high posts? Are there even any Buddhists in any White House appointments? Do Buddhists complain? Never, for these are political actions, and Buddhism has almost no political outreach. Buddhism in America is purely religious, not political at all.

Obama advisers experiment with lethal business regulations

By Dr. Henry I. Miller, The Washington Times:

Former New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine and senior Obama economic adviser Laura Tyson showed recently on “ABC News This Week” the narrowness of Democrats’ thinking about economic issues. Both continued to emphasize the importance of government spending, although trillions of dollars of stimulus spending has had little palpable effect on economic growth and, especially, on job creation. Mrs. Tyson said we need to “invest, invest, invest” – Obama administration code for “spend, spend, spend” – on infrastructure and education. She reiterated this recommendation in a Saturday New York Times Op-Ed column.

In other words, they are demanding measures that, if they work at all, will be slow and slower.

Like most of their fellow Democrats, Mr. Corzine and Mrs. Tyson are oblivious to the kinds of cost-free and quick-acting strategies that could dispel some of the pessimism now endemic among investors and businesses.

One route has been identified by the Heritage Foundation’s James Sherk: “Stop threatening those in a position to hire – no more taxes, no cap-and-trade legislation, no government takeover of private health care, and no massive increase in the public debt.”

Mosque really about pushing Sharia law

Salim Mansur:

The swirling controversy over the Ground Zero mosque obscures what should be obvious, at least since 9/11, about the behavioural pattern of radical Islamists engaged in stealth jihad, or “lawfare,” to advance their strategic interest of securing concessions by Western governments for Sharia.

In generating this controversy, and then pushing hard on it by insisting on the constitutionally protected right of freedom of religion to build this mosque in the vicinity of Ground Zero in New York City, Islamists behind the project have masterfully succeeded in greatly dividing Americans as the ninth anniversary of 9/11 approaches.

What we are witnessing here is radical Islamists once again, as in the Danish cartoon controversy — or the controversy surrounding the wearing by some Muslim women of niqabs or full-face coverings, or the push for censorship on grounds of hate speech — taking hold of the legal-political framework of liberal democracy to secure grounds for their anti-liberal agenda of advancing acceptance of Sharia in the West.

Through indiscriminate violence, radical Islamists have succeeded to define Islam in terms of Sharia — Islamic law constructed more than a millennium ago by legal scholars that is, putting it mildly, entirely obsolete in the context of modern philosophy, science, democracy, gender equity and individual rights and freedom — and jihad, or sanctioning of violence, in the name of religion.

Mosques for radical Islamists are centres for preaching, recruiting, fundraising, networking and engaging in the political work of advancing their strategic interests.

The malignant malice of Chris Matthews

Jeannie DeAngelis:

Americans gathering to peacefully pray, exercise freedom of speech and laud the greatness of our nation are being depicted by Chris Matthews as “Little right-wing boys and little right-wing girls joining hands and singing praise for Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin.” Matthews’ tingly hero worship explains the MSNBC commentator projecting juvenile idolatry on hundreds of thousands of peacefully assembled Americans who were doing anything but worshiping Beck and Palin.

Reporting on the event, an acerbic media stunned by the large, God-centered turnout repeatedly played the race card and underscored the fact that few minorities were spotted in the crowd. In the run-up to the rally, hypocritical news organizations even lowered themselves to negatively grilling “Restoring Honor” speakers like Martin Luther King’s niece Alveda King, the unspoken implication being that Black Americans are traitors if choosing to speak anywhere besides the Al Sharpton “We-Alone-Own-MLK rally.”

The left cultivates division and then complains about a racial divide. Liberals stir up strife and then claim that minorities avoid gatherings like the “Restoring Honor” event, which was attended by hundreds of thousands of people who, regardless of race, treasure the values Martin Luther King espoused.

IPCC and CRU Rewrite Facts But Can’t Rewrite History

By Dr. Tim Ball:

This week two events provide opportunities to understand the political influences on climate science and the real influence of climate on politics.

First was Sean Hannity’s program The Green Swindle, a very good overview of the entire range of issues from hijacking of climate science by people at the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to the dangers of cap and trade.
Medieval Warm Period

Second was a question from a CFP reader about the evidence for the Medieval Warm Period (MWP).

Hannity showed a graph of northern hemisphere temperatures (Figure 1) produced by Hubert Lamb and used in the 1990 and 1995 IPCC Reports.

For the last 25 years I’ve used a version of the graph, modified with historic references, in public lectures (Figure 2). Several points are important. 1. References to the Maunder and Sporer solar minimums. 2. Correlation with the Medieval Warm Period (MWP) and the Little Ice Age (LIA). 3. Specific historic events; the Viking era when they sailed in Arctic waters now permanent pack ice, and “Dicken’s Winters” that triggered harvest failures and the harsh social conditions of “A Christmas Carol”.

The Lamb graph and its source were problematic for the people at the CRU who were also on the IPCC.

It showed the 20th century was not the warmest temperatures ever and triggered the email Professor Deming received from a CRU member saying, “We have to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period.” It appears Michael Mann’s research with the complicity of others was designed to achieve that goal.
