Risk grows that Israel will go alone to take out Iranian nukes

By: Sara A. Carter, Washington Examiner:

The growing rift between the Obama administration and Israel, coupled with the administration’s failure to rein in Tehran’s nuclear program, has increased the chances that the Israelis will eventually launch an attack on Iran, experts said.

“U.S.-Israeli relations are at their lowest point since … the early ’80s,” said Ilan Berman, vice president of the American Foreign Policy Council. “It has a lot to do with the fact that Israel thinks this administration is not serious about preventing a nuclear Iran. What is Israel going to do? I’m not certain one way or another. But from the rhetoric, there will come a determining point.”

Berman said Israel “could wait and see if sanctions would work, [but] if Israel feels threatened it would strike first before allowing a nuclear Iran.”

“If I had to put down odds, I think I would [bet on] the latter,” he added.

Scientist: Climate Change Legislation a Power Grab

NewsMax:

Politicians pushing climate-change legislation such as cap and trade are more interested in grabbing power rather than paying attention to the complete scientific record, Dr. Roy Spencer, a respected former NASA climate scientist, tells Newsmax.TV.

Spencer currently serves as a principal research scientist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville and leads the advanced science team monitoring the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer on NASA’s Aqua satellite, which monitors global climate fluctuations.

“The legislation train left the station over 20 years ago, and it’s going to be very difficult to stop,” Spencer says. “I think there are politicians who really do not care about the science, but are looking to expand government and gain control over our energies.”

Jennifer Knapp & Larry King: Why We Always Lose this Debate

By Trevin Wax, Kingdom People:

Whenever the discussion centers on “homosexuality is a sin… but we’re all sinners,” the traditionalist inevitably comes across looking like he is singling out homosexuality as a worse sin than all the rest. His protests to the contrary always ring hollow.

But this is the wrong way to frame this debate. We are not saying that some of us are worse sinners than others or that homosexuality is a worse sin than pride, stealing, etc. We are not categorized before God as ” better sinners” or “worse sinners.” Instead, we are either unrepentant or repentant. True Christianity hinges on repentance. The pastor on Larry King Live eventually made this point later on in the broadcast, but the rhetorical damage had already been done.

If we are to reframe this discussion along biblical lines, then we must emphasize the necessity of repentance for the Christian faith. The point is not that the pastor and the Knapp are both sinners. It’s that the pastor agrees with God about his sin, while Knapp remains in her sin without repentance. That is why he is questioning her Christianity, for Christian teaching makes clear the necessity of repentance as the entryway into the Christian family.

Ultimately, the debate is not about homosexuality versus other sins. It’s about whether or not repentance is integral to the Christian life.

No More Beer Summits: Tea Party ‘N-Word’ Incident Didn’t Happen, And the Congressional Black Caucus Owes America an Apology

Posted by Andrew Breitbart, BJ:

Rep. Andre Carson wants to change the subject. I don’t blame him.

On April 13, 2010 he told AP reporter Jesse Washington, “I think we need to move toward a dialogue that explores why this kind of divisive and reprehensible language is still making it into our political debate.”

The “divisive and reprehensible language” that Rep. Carson is referring to is his claim that while he left the Cannon office building on March 20 with Rep. John Lewis, they were verbally assaulted by health care protesters hurling the “N-word” at them. He said the scene was so hostile he “expected rocks to come” when he was coming out of Cannon.

I wanted to see the evidence. I wanted the truth. In the course of our search we have actually uncovered further video evidence that casts serious doubt on Rep.Carson’s claims:

Now Who’s Afraid Of The S Word?

IBD:

We know socialism comes in many forms. “People speak of socialism,” Michael Harrington, movement leader and author of “The Other America,” wrote in a later volume. “We should speak of socialisms.”

But redistributing wealth and taking control of key industries are tenets in most definitions. And the Obama administration has seemed to be actively pursuing both over the last 15 months.

Back in 2008, however, relatively few Americans believed this was a direction their country would take.

Don’t Try This Again

IBD:

[...]

Economic history tells us that government spending does not create private-sector jobs, though it does help boost public-sector employment, which does nothing to promote economic growth. A government cannot spend a country into prosperity or even out of a recession. Stimulus legislation merely redistributes wealth to the politically connected and the politically favored.

Southern Poverty Law Center’s ‘Enemies List’ a Fantasy

by Robert Stacy McCain:

Catherine Bleish is a 26-year-old libertarian who was a Ron Paul delegate to the 2008 Republican National Convention. She is a leader of the Liberty Restoration Project which, among other things, opposes the federal “War on Drugs” and denounces the Patriot Act as “an assault against the civil liberties of Americans.”

Perhaps you disagree with those views, but is Bleish dangerous?

The Southern Poverty Law Center seems to think so. In a special report called “Meet the ‘Patriots’” issued last week, the SPLC named Bleish as one of 35 people “at the heart of the resurgent movement.” The report — which also names WorldNetDaily publisher Joseph Farah and Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media — describes the movement thus:

Human Rights Watch and the Nazis

Conrad Black, NRO:

Utterly debunked though their strategic and economic notions were, the social-market Left had learned rigorously the art of the chameleon. Of course the USSR was not really a threat, and the victory in an unnecessary Cold War was hollow, Pyrrhic, illusory, whatever. Academe welcomed and sheltered its defeated and bedraggled warriors and stirring requiems were thundered out in the usual vaulted cathedrals of the liberal media.

But perhaps the most stentorian Te Deum has come from the human-rights organizations. Human Rights Watch was founded by distinguished rights champion and publisher Robert Bernstein, who is still active but long gone from HRW. As the leftist infantry was put to flight, HRW became a clinic for the shell-shocked, who, assisted by the balm of the inevitable George Soros funding, have transformed it into yet another Israel-bashing operation.

Obama plays “race card” in call for 2010 elections?

by Ed Morrissey:

Drudge has this clip highlighted with the headline, “OBAMA PLAYS RACE CARD” in bold letters at the top of the page. Ben Smith at Politico goes with a less-provocative description of “unusual demographic frankness” in describing this effort from the DNC to get the troops rallied for the midterm elections. Both descriptions seem more ironic after watching this wan, mailed-in effort from Barack Obama that reminds one more of his video extolling Martha Coakley’s virtues to skeptical Massachusetts voters:

Obama court appointee a big donor to Democrats

by Ed Morrissey:

On the surface, there isn’t much doubt why Barack Obama selected John J. McConnell Jr. as his nominee to the US District in Rhode Island. McConnell has had a long career as a litigator in cases that would thrill any advocate on the Left, suing manufacturers over lead paint, asbestos, and tobacco. However, it may have been McConnell’s ability to turn those cases into cash for the Democratic machine that got him his nomination, as the Providence Journal reports:

Video: Rush was right, say … CNN and Reuters?

by Ed Morrissey:

Newsbusters highlights this debate from yesterday’s Reliable Sources on CNN, hosted by Howard Kurtz, in which Rush Limbaugh gets some unusual defenders against Bill Clinton. Salon’s Joan Walsh reliably regurgitates Bill Clinton’s slam against Rush and talk radio, but she finds herself rather lonely. Amy Holmes, CNN’s political reporter, and Reuters editor-at-large Chrystia Freeland object to Clinton’s characterization of impassioned political debate as a dog whistle for violence:

They’re back: A gallery of open-borders extremists; Update: May Day is Che Day; vandals strike AZ capitol

By Michelle Malkin:

Longtime readers will remember that in 2006 and 2007, I provided extensive coverage of the open-borders radicals who didn’t just push for amnesty, but revealed their anti-American, anti-sovereignty, anti-police, pro-Che colors in all their fury. Some of those posts went viral and this one of the American flag desecration at Montebello High School still shows up in my e-mail box.

Over the weekend, the open-borders extremists returned to the streets. But you won’t see CNN and MSNBC hunting them down Susan Roesgen-style and decrying these fringe wackos.

Is Pro-Intelligent Design Speech During Work Hours “Not Included” in Protections Against Discrimination?

ENV:

In a recent post I explained why David Coppedge is alleging religious discrimination in his lawsuit against NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for shutting down his pro-intelligent design speech, even though intelligent design (ID) is science, not religion. In the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Professor Gary Williams of Loyola Law School (and former head of the Southern California ACLU) argued that even if ID is religion (or, as in Coppedge’s case, ID is labeled religion by JPL), that Coppedge’s lawsuit is weak:

What’s Happening with Israel?

by Victor Davis Hanson:

Current American relations with our once-staunch ally Israel are at their lowest ebb in the last 50 years.

The Obama administration seems as angry at the building of Jewish apartments in Jerusalem as it is intent on reaching out to Iran and Syria, Israel’s mortal enemies. President Obama himself, according to reports, has serially snubbed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A new narrative abounds in Washington that Israel’s intransigence with its Arab neighbors now even endangers U.S. troops stationed in the Middle East. Obama is pushing Netanyahu’s Likud government to make concessions on several fronts, from supplying power and food to Gaza, to hastened departure from the West Bank.

These tensions follow the Obama administration’s new outreach to the Muslim world.

Left-Wingers Who Caused Subprime Meltdown Have Yet To Face Justice

by Matthew Vadum, NewsRealblog:

The left-wing architects of the subprime mortgage collapse have yet to be called to account.

Much has already been written about the possibly criminal conduct of Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) and Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), who relentlessly gamed the political system to clear the way for their cronies at government-sponsored Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make billions at the expense of taxpayers, but very little has been written about the role that their liberal friends and allies in the private and nonprofit sectors played in bringing the U.S. economy to its knees.

Funded by huckster John Paulson and predatory lending kingpins Herb & Marion Sandler (who also gave generously to ACORN through the years), the inappropriately named Center for Responsible Lending (CRL) laid the foundation for the current financial crisis. (The photo above shows actors portraying the Sandlers in a “Saturday Night Live” skit soon after the market crashed in fall 2008.)

The media seems barely to have noticed that CRL’s puppet, Eric Stein, is now leading the Obama administration’s push to Sovietize the American banking system.

More Global Warming Profiteering by Obama Energy Official

by Christopher Horner:

Surprising documents made available to this author reveal that Assistant Secretary of Energy Cathy Zoi has a huge financial stake in companies likely to profit from the Obama administration’s “green” policies.

Zoi, who left her position as CEO of the Alliance for Climate Protection — founded by Al Gore — to serve as assistant secretary for energy efficiency and renewable energy, now manages billions in “green jobs” funding. But the disclosure documents show that Zoi not only is in a position to affect the fortunes of her previous employer, ex-Vice President Al Gore, but that she herself has large holdings in two firms that could directly profit from policies proposed by the Department of Energy.

Disastrous Computer Models Predictions From Limits to Growth to Global Warming

By Dr. Tim Ball:

Every time history repeats itself the price goes up. Anonymous

No matter what political committees try to absolve corruption of climate science of the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), they cannot hide the complete failure of the computer models to make a single accurate prediction. Leaked emails from the CRU received media attention, but the emphasis must shift to the computer models. They gave the IPCC Reports far more credibility than they deserved by producing simple graphs and crude maps of a warmer world with increasingly, expanding and threatening red (hot) areas that avoided the need for scientific understanding.

What was more dramatic than the infamous hockey stick? The combination of the flat handle achieved by eliminating the Medieval Warm Period and the upturn of the blade in the 20th century with Phil Jones’ undisclosed data was visually dramatic. The propagandists in Hollywood who produced Gore’s movie understood this.

Obama Is Enabling Nuclear Breakout

By James Lewis, AT:

Jimmy Carter didn’t want to be known as the Ayatollah Appeaser, but that’s how history has him chalked up. Bill Clinton played dumb about the 1994 World Trade Center bombing, actually blocking the flow of foreign intelligence between Justice and the CIA, and thereby enabled 9/11/01 — the second al-Qaeda attack on Manhattan in seven years. The liberal media are still in shrill denial of those facts, but history will not forget their failures. Historians will ask over and over why yet another feckless Democrat was elected in 2008. How could Americans be so blind to the circling jackals of this world?

Now Obama seems intent on reversing the Cold War and letting nuclear proliferation explode. In Congress, the Democrats are committing mass suicide for him. FDR gave us the New Deal, and Obama is giving us the Raw Deal.

Congressman: Why is Justice Department refusing to allow its career attorneys to testify before civil rights commission?

Barack Obama’s top ten insults against Israel

By Nile Gardiner:

Last week Israel celebrated its 62nd year as a nation, but there was major cause for concern amid the festivities as the Israeli people faced the looming menace of a nuclear-armed Iran, as well as the prospect of a rapidly deteriorating relationship with Washington. The Israel-bashing of the Obama administration has become so bad that even leading Democrats are now speaking out against the White House. New York Senator Chuck Schumer blasted Barack Obama’s stance towards Israel in a radio interview last week, stating his “counter-productive” Israel policy “has to stop”.
