The Crucifixion of Brit Hume
by Matt Barber, Townhall:
During the Roman Empire’s secularist era those who acknowledged the deity of Christ were frequently fed to the lions to entertain – for lack of a better word – the “progressive” elites of the day. There’s little doubt that if many of today’s secular-“progressives” (more accurately: “moonbat liberals”) had their way, Caesar Obama would call out the lions once again.
Nothing makes the left lose its collective noodle like an open proclamation of Christian faith. You don’t see it when Muslims proselytize in government schools; the ACLU doesn’t sue when Wiccans share their witchy ways; militant “gay” activists don’t picket Buddhist temples with bullhorns while inhabitants grasp at Zen. No, there’s something about Christianity that just drives ‘em nuts. Always has. Always will.

Tiktaalik Blown “Out of the Water” by Earlier Tetrapod Fossil Footprints
ENV:
When Tiktaalik was reported in 2006, the media went Darwin-happy over the discovery of an alleged transitional fossil. BBC News announced, “Fossil animals found in Arctic Canada provide a snapshot of fish evolving into land animals.” At MSNBC, Tiktaalik co-discoverer Ted Daeschler was quoted boasting that, “If one considers adaptation as a process of collecting tools to live in a new environment, the new finding offers ‘a snapshot of the toolkit at this particular point in this evolutionary transition.” The article even postured Tiktaalik as an actual ancestor of tetrapods, stating: “Scientists have caught a fossil fish in the act of adapting toward a life on land, a discovery that sheds new light on one of the greatest transformations in the history of animals.” But this week Tiktaalik’s status as an actual transitional fossil between fish and tetrapods has been called into question by the discovery of unambiguous footprints (with digits) of a full-tetrapod that were made about 20 million years before Tiktaalik. An article in Nature explains the havoc wreaked by these footprints:

American special envoy threatens Israel with sanctions if it fails to advance peace talks, two-state solution
YNET:
On the eve of his visit to the Middle East, US special envoy George Mitchell threatened that his country would freeze its aid to Israel if the Jewish state failed to advance peace talks with the Palestinians and a two-state solution.
Mitchell clarified in an interview to the PBS network that the United States would use incentives or sanctions against both sides.
According to American law, Mitchell said, the US can freeze its support for aid to Israel. He added that all options must remain open and that the sides must be convinced about what their important interests are.

It’s the thirties all over again
Melanie Phillips:
The general climate in Britain of hysterical and poisonous anti-Bush/Blair/US/Israel prejudice, and the astounding irrationality and epic rewriting of history that this has unleashed, provides the sea in which Islamic extremism and terrorism swim. It has swept along not just the left but a very significant proportion of the political ‘paleo-conservative’ right too.
The left are consumed by hatred of America and the west in general. The paleo-cons believe that ‘abroad’ – about which they know no more than the BBC tells them, God help us – is a dangerous and frightening place full of lunatics who will leave us alone as long as we don’t do anything unpleasant to them; and the fact that they want in fact to kill us must therefore mean that we have indeed done something unpleasant to them. So they end up agreeing with the Islamic world that the west is actually the cause of the war being waged against it.
The result is that, apart from the fact that left-wingers use longer words, there isn’t a cigarette paper to separate the views of the paleo-cons and the left on the ‘war on terror’, ‘the doctrine of pre-emption’, ‘moron Bush’ and ‘poodle Blair’, ‘taken to war on a lie’, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, American military power and Israel.
There is no question in my mind but that this mass public derangement is the single most important weapon in the Islamists’ arsenal.

The Strange New Friend of the Iranian Demonstrators
By Hassan Daioleslam, AT:
As the Iranian uprising enters its seventh month and spurs the ruling regime’s disintegration, the Iranian community in the U.S. is witnessing a peculiar sideshow. Some of the “Iran experts” who had relentlessly preached friendship and coexistence with the Iranian regime, in a bizarre overnight reinvention of themselves, are now riding the green wave and presenting themselves as the advocates of the regime’s victims, the Iranian people. Chief among them is Tria Parsi, president of the National Iranian American Council (NIAC).
For the past twelve years, Trita Parsi has unremittingly lobbied the U.S. Congress to lift pressure off the Iranian regime.

Eat Fish to Save Your Heart
NEWSMAX:
Fish has long been recognized as part of a healthy diet, and in recent decades fish has also been associated with the prevention of heart disease. Now, scientists believe it can help preserve heart function in patients who are victims of heart failure. A new study in the Journal of Food Science reports that moderate fish consumption can help reduce the risk of left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVSD) in patients who have suffered heart failure.

The Religious Left’s Prophecies of Doom
by Mark D. Tooley, FrontPage:
In 1986, the United Methodist Church’s bishops tried to outdo the Catholic bishops’ 1983 pastoral letter on nuclear weapons by themselves endorsing the nuclear freeze movement, renouncing nuclear deterrence, opposing missile defense, and espousing Carl Sagan’s spurious “nuclear winter” theory. The Catholic bishops had granted a “conditional” acceptance of nuclear deterrence and cited Just War teaching. They also rejected moral equivalence between the West and the Soviet Empire, noting, “Free people must always pay a proportionate price and run some risks – responsibly – to preserve their freedom.”
Unfortunately, the United Methodist bishops, in their rush to disarm and condemn the United States, were incapable of such serious reflection. Instead, their “In Defense of Creation” manifesto sanctimoniously intoned that “nuclear deterrence is a position which cannot receive the church’s blessing.” And they derided any adherence to deterrence as “idolatry” while slamming Christians who believed in resisting Soviet nuclear superiority as guilty of “idolatrous loyalties to special interests and ideologies.”
Fortunately, the United Methodist bishops’ surreal nuclear counsel was largely ignored.

The Gitmo Obsession
By Charles Krauthammer:
On Wednesday, Nigerian would-be bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was indicted by a Michigan grand jury for attempted murder and sundry other criminal charges. The previous day, the State Department announced that his visa had been revoked. The system worked.
Well, it did for Abdulmutallab. What he lost in flying privileges he gained in Miranda rights. He was singing quite freely when seized after trying to bring down Northwest Flight 253 over Detroit. But the Obama administration decided to give him a lawyer and the right to remain silent. We are now forced to purchase information from this attempted terrorist in the coin of leniency. Absurdly, Abdulmutallab is now in control.
And this is no ordinary information.

Prominent Voice in Health Care Debate Took Money from the Administration
Megan McArdle:
MIT economist Jonathan Gruber has become the go-to economist for fans of the health care reform wending its way through congress. He regularly produces analyses showing how great reform is going to be for people buying insurance in the individual market, and has been a vocal advocate for the excise tax. His prominence made him a natural lead-in for Ron Brownstein’s recent piece on the health care bill for Atlantic Politics:

Obama and the White House Chicago Boys
By Ed Lasky, AT:
Barack Obama has a problem. His polls numbers are dropping and his policies are fueling an angry backlash across America. The Democratic party is held in disrepute, and congressional Democrats are dropping like flies. This imperils Obama’s radical agenda and his own 2012 prospects. What to do? Game the system and rig the future elections. That is how things are done in the streets of Chicago.
Signs are emerging that the Chicago Boys — the triumvirate of Obama, Emanuel, and Axlerod — are up to their old tricks, as I touched upon in a previous American Thinker column. My recent interest was piqued by two news items that floated across my screen in the last week.
One was the release of the White House visitor logs that showed visits by Anna Burger, Secretary-Treasurer of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and named by Fortune Magazine as “the most powerful woman in the labor movement. ” We know Andy Stern, head of the SEIU, routinely visits the White House and has boasted of the tens of millions of dollars and man-hours the union spent in electing Barack Obama to the presidency. We can expect a repeat performance come 2012.
But Anna Burger is far more than an SEIU honcho; she also is the vice-chairman of a shadowy group called the ” Democracy Alliance,” composed of billionaire funders and savvy political operatives who set out a few years ago to change politics as we know it in America. Among their projects was something called the Secretary of States Project that set about electing secretaries of state in key battleground states.

Glen Beck has been trying to warn Americans for months now. A coup is not always obvious. Is there a a silent coup taking place by the left in the U.S. and if so will they pull it off? I worry about Beck and other whistleblowers and I believe they need our prayers.
Christianity Without Christ
Creative Minority Report:
When you are an atheist, thinking can get you in trouble.
There are seemingly no limits to the mental self-tomfoolery that folks will engage in to avoid the obvious. Apparently, there is a small but growing group of atheists that reluctantly acknowledge that the typical atheist worldview, that of Dawkins and Hitchens, is not sufficient. Militant nihilism has no answer, at least no transformative answer, to the suffering of this world.
Suffering, they realize, is the one true constant of this world and the only one worldview adequately acknowledges and transforms that suffering into something useful. Christianity. So these suffering atheists are turning to Christianity to make sense of the suffering. The only problem, and its a doozy, is that they want Christianity without Christ.

As Climategate Becomes Pressgate, Questions for the Media
Posted by John R. Lott Jr. and Roger Lott, Big Journalism:
Trillions of dollars are at stake in the man-made global warming debate. The Climategate scandal – where leaked emails and computer programs involve dozens of prominent scientists worldwide – has almost everything one would want in a good scandal: conspiracies, fraud, possible destruction of documents, and lots of heated exchanges. But the media has been reluctant to look into the problems and even when the controversy has been acknowledged it has been quickly dismissed as unimportant.

Lord Carey’s brave call to limit immigration is a timely defence of Christian values
By Damian Thompson, Telegraph [UK]:
We have had to wait decades for this moment, but it has finally happened. A leading British clergyman has said something sensible about immigration.
Lord Carey of Clifton, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, this week signed a declaration by the Cross Party Group on Balanced Migration calling for an urgent tightening of borders to stop the British population reaching 70 million by 2029. He also gave an interview yesterday in which he called for a tougher Church. “We Christians are very often so soft that we allow other people to walk over us, and we are not as tough in what we want, in expressing our beliefs, because we do not want to upset other people,” he said.

The gluttony of governments
Lorne Gunter, National Post:
One of the worst by-products — among many — of the rapid expansion of government in the past 50 years has been the politicization of everything, including aspects of personal daily life that government has no business in. Relationships, child rearing, garbage collection, even the replacement of light bulbs have come under government scrutiny.
Private charity has been deemed demeaning and replaced, by and large, by public welfare. Even the charity that remains has been politicized with highly biased tax bureaucrats determining which private causes are worthy of tax-deductable donations on ideological grounds.
Smoking, even in the confines of one’s own home or car, is political. A woman’s use of makeup is political. Perfume, pesticides and animal ownership are all political, as well.
Sex is political, too. For instance, there is a branch of feminism that argues all heterosexual intercourse is, in essence, rape.

C-SPAN host allows anti-Semitic rant
WorldNetDaily:
A C-SPAN host has let a caller and a guest both launch anti-Semitic rants without objection or censure, and then declined to explain why the harsh criticism of Israel – described as of “no worth” – was allowed.
The discourse came recently while Bill Scanlan was hosting the program, and a video of the exchange has been preserved at a website called “the elder of ziyon.”
The site describes the exchange as including an “unbelievably anti-Semitic question by the caller,” but also criticized that the C-SPAN anchor doesn’t even blink. C-SPAN guest Michael Scheuer also is captured “pretty much telling the world how Israel deserves to be the target of terror attacks.”

Deciphered etching sheds new light on Bible’s origin
Haaretz:
Did the writing of the Bible begin as far back as the 10th century B.C.E., during the time of King David? That is four centuries earlier than Biblical scholars currently believe – but an inscription recently deciphered by a scholar at Haifa University indicates that for at least some books of the Bible, the answer may be yes.

The content, Galil said, “which relates to slaves, widows and orphans,” is typical of the Biblical text, but reflects ideas virtually unheard of in the surrounding cultures.
Galil said this discovery disproves the current theory, which holds that the Bible could not have been written before the 6th century B.C.E., because Hebrew writing did not exist until then.

Another theory scholars cling to beginning to crumble. And let’s throw out another pc construct invented by anti-Christian ‘scholars’ – C.E. and B.C.E. What utter bollocks. IT’S A.D. AND B.C. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
